The new report that Trump says shows Google 'manipulated' 2.6 million votes for Hillary Clinton is a 2-year-old study that a San Diego psychologist based on 95 people

So a froot loop with an axe to grind with Google created a study that completely missed the fact that Google prioritizes search results based on relevance and trustworthiness. So sites like the daily stormer and Breitbart which are often full of utter pig shit get promoted less than say, BBC and Wall Street Journal.

So you google "Candidate positions on health care" you get "pro Clinton" reality based results from actual journalists (because she is the one who had a position on the subject), not Alex Jones screaming that gay frogs are forming a death panel. This, in this looney tune's mind, is "vote manipulation". Because they give relevant facts that he happens to disagree with to the person seeking said information.

And he tested it with 95 people and the voices from planet Weebo somehow extrapolated that to potentially 10.2 million votes "manipulated" (not "voters informed"). And the screaming ulcer in chief then latched onto that and somehow bumped the number up to 16 million.

A new Pew Research Center survey finds that only half of American adults think colleges and universities are having a positive effect on the way things are going in the country these days. About four-in-ten (38%) say they are having a negative impact – up from 26% in 2012.

The share of Americans saying colleges and universities have a negative effect has increased by 12 percentage points since 2012. The increase in negative views has come almost entirely from Republicans and independents who lean Republican. From 2015 to 2019, the share saying colleges have a negative effect on the country went from 37% to 59% among this group. Over that same period, the views of Democrats and independents who lean Democratic have remained largely stable and overwhelmingly positive.

Can't decide if we are closer to "1984" or "Idiocracy"

Either way, it's not good

Resentment is at the heart of this, and resentment is at the hard of the modern republican. It's what they campaign on, it's what they vote on.

This headline is so, so bad, and a little irresponsible besides. She's being sued because she embezzled funds. She'd have been sued whether or not she watched Friends. And while watching Friends is a perfectly sue-able offense because it's absolute trash, it paints De Niro senselessly as aggressively petty. And hey! Maybe he is! But this article doesn't show it and the headline shouldn't convey it.

And here, whatever, it's not a big deal, but the click-driving headline-writing strategy, favoring unjustified intrigue over accuracy is exactly how you get the political and media climate we have now, where dangerous voices (white supremacists, climate change deniers, anti-vaxxers) can find play and audience, because there are enough catchy but inaccurate headlines out there in media that's supposed to be more reliable than some conspiracy theorists' blog lend them enough reasonable doubt to pretend to be credible.
