This caught me totally by surprise and I'm guessing Bill Belichick is some kind of pissed off this morning. It was leaked yesterday afternoon that the Patriots ....nothing certain here.....are looking, have discussed, are discussing, are interested, whatever in possibly trading for Jamaal Charles RB of the Kansas City Chiefs. As we speak the Chiefs have four front line starting running backs and certainly don't want to be carrying all four in the preseason and absolutely not into the start of the regular season.

Nothing has been set in concrete, nothing has even been pushed into the mud. It's a rumor. But rumors like these generally have at least some legs under them and they just don't pop into some media type's head and the Patriots media rarely if ever put something like this in print unless they thoroughly vett it.

Again, I can only pass on what I read or hear on the TV/radio. I picked this up on CSNNE this morning.

If true, this changes the total dynamic of the Patriots' offense. While Charles has had his share of injuries, playing in a pass first offense would protect him for those 30-35 carry games.

When I first read the header I just thought for a second "oh here we go with the ridiculous rumors that somebody just made up." Honestly though with how well the Chiefs offense functioned without Charles last year and the fact that he is 30 this year I could see the Chiefs at least taking some phone calls. Not sure what kind of value they are looking for though as Charles when healthy is still a premier RB in this league and a fan favorite in KC so I can't see them letting him go for anything less than a 2nd round pick if not pushing for a 1st round pick.

This thing picked up some steam and then died a quick death. If this had been more serious, I think that the late night Boston sports shows would have been all over it.

About 40% of the reports from the Patriots last night was about Brady not being the same Brady. Apparently he walked off the field after practice and didn't engage the 12,000 people who came to watch practice. That and he got really pissed off and slammed his helmet to the ground after throwing an INT.

We are not giving up any picks for Charles. Probably not for anybody.
The most painful part of this season is that we will have to cut a lot of really good players.....

NE has 7 RBs on the roster. KC has 6. Niether team is in dire need to make a move. Granted camps just underway so who knows how healthy either team will be at RB come September?
I agree with Southie, no picks unless it's for a late rounder, no more than 5th?
Now if Blount isn't healthy/effective I wouldn't mind seeing NE combine some of the players they'll need to cut anyway long with a 5th for him. Otherwise I'm ok with the way NE looks currently.

Wish they got Forte or Prosise, oh well.

If NE is going to trade of a RB, they need to do it soon. Lewis is out, Foster is banged up, Blount is just coming back from hip surgery, apparently he slimmed down. Brown is prob a lock to make this team. White is not a fav with the coaches, Gaffney will end up on PUP. Bolden.........so I mean how long do they wait?? One name I keep thinking about is Bishop Sankey in Tenn. He is buried behind Murray, Henry, Cobb. He was pretty good in college and was not really given a shot with the team. I can see a move like that before Charles is traded to NE.
