twas certainly a better deal for the Leafs but did not really make either team better.

I often think of the Rick Nash Trade. It didnt make Columbus better but I certainly think it made the Rangers weaker overall

If the Leafs decide they aren't winnin' for MacKinnon, it wouldn't make a much sense to deal Kessel for Lulongo.

I'd actually have no problem dealing Kessel for a pick, but 5 games into the season is WAY too early to start writing people/teams off, especially since they're 2-3.

You have a guy who scores thirty goals every year despite having #1 C to play with and you should trade him because he looks uncomfortable 5 games into a season which had no preseason.

If the Laffs trade Kessel the return had better be outstanding.

i think what leafs fans who side with demon cox are pointing to is more about what his contract demands will be and that the Leafs have only 1.5 seasons of term left with him before he hits UFA

james mirtle is always saying he will command 7 to 8 million on the open market

so if thats the case ... do you want to pay the type of player kessel is that much when you could build around a younger potentially more well rounded hockey player

It was said last week that Corey Perry could get 9M per this offseason. So yeah I could see Kessel getting 7M per.

I see Phil Kessel as a guy who could help a team win a Stanley Cup, but I don't see him as a guy that you use as a center piece to build around. Thus, although I am no fan of Damien Cox, I think I would try to move him in order to look towards the future.
