If Mariotta is still there at #5 and the Eagles offer us 2015 1st and 2nd and 2016 1st should we do it? I say yes. We can get a decent OT at #20.

Sure why not. Although I think we need more than just decent though at OT

I doubt Brandon Scherff would be available then but Andrus Peat might. Here's another scenario. Rumor -- and I repeat rumor -- has it that the Browns have soured on Manziel so much that they're willing to look for another franchise QB this year. If that's true, and somehow Mariota pops up when we pick at #5 overall, maybe we trade the #5 pick for both of the Browns' first rounders (#12 and #19 overall). In order to swing that based on the point value chart, we'll need to send over our third and fourth rounders. However, if the Browns are that desperate, we can probably pry more from them to make this deal go through. Lots of rumors and ifs, though in this scenario and some are reporting that the Browns will be forced to tolerate Manziel for at least one more season before making a final decision on him. But hope springs eternal.

Philly would have to give up a serious haul to get our pick. I mean you are basically giving them what they think amounts to a franchise QB. And we know how the last trade of suck ilk turned out. Would be nice to be on the boinker end instead of the boinkie end for once.

The article notes that they'd have to give up their #1 and #2 this year, their #1 next year and a player. The draft point value chart doesn't work for them unless they're agreeing to give up their entire draft a la Mike Ditka in '99. The player I'd want is either Evan Mathis, Jason Kelce or Lane Johnson.

well we know the eagles don't mind giving up their players, but I'd assume we'd bite on a 1st, 2nd and 16' 1st. its possible we would do some deals of our own with the picks.

If we did that, we'd have three picks between the 20th pick and 52nd pick. Not too bad. 20th, 38th, and 52nd.

Only way this works in our favor is if there are multiple teams after him. Otherwise the Eagles play it smart, make us use our #5 pick and trade up with some one else that isnt going to take a QB but does want to trade down for less than what it would cost to get our spot. The only team Philly would ave to worry about is the Jets. If he gets to five and the Jets are not going to take a QB, I think they could stand pat and get him at around 14 or so if they are worried.

That is why I'm hoping Winston and Mariota have an outstanding combine.
It could work wonders for us NOT screwing up at 5

If they offer us Lane Johnson plus pick 1 and 2 this year and next years first that would be huge for us. We would do it in a heartbeat. We should hope that the Eagles trade up with Jax b/c that would mean Williams would fall to us. ITs highly doubtful that they would want to deal with us. I think they would target the Raiders or Jags. Even if that happens that would mean Williams falls.

If they light it up at the underware workout, Tampa will take one, and Tenn will take the other.

Winston will go #1. Mariota will fall b/c the league is down on running QB's right now.

Let's hope Tennessee doesn't take Mariota at #2 and takes Leonard Williams instead. The Titans might be under the illusion that Mettenberger holds out some promise as their franchise QB. Unless someone skips up to #3 or #4, some teams are really going to covet our #5 overall pick.

Having said that, sometimes using that pick is not the worst thing in the world. Remember back in 2011 when Jax took our #10 overall and traded us their #16 overall and second rounder. We got Ryan Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins. Kerrigan is money, Jenkins not so. But guess who got picked at #11? JJ Watt.

I'm with you SDad. They have 10 total picks including 2 firsts and 2 fourths. We could move back 7 spots AND acquire their 2nd and 3rd (or highest 4th) rounder, that would be fair by points alone and we could probably get more. That's a NE or Seattle kind of move.
