lol. +1

should have also asked him if Eric Cole would share his dumbass opinion.

He would probably ask if that was the guy who sings Christmas carols.

I know I sound like a snob, but I just don't like the assumptions people have about what kind of hockey fan I am just by looking at me.

I know too. Id hate going to all the games I go to knowing that 5000 people around me could very easily be masturbating to a picture of Sindey Crosby everynight. :p

So you have never seen the Pens in the Wach?
:D

I can't fucking stand it. But the games are nowhere near as bad as bars. At least the fans at the game had to shell out $60+ so there's some sort of screening. Any dumbass can come sit next to you at a bar and watch it. I love watching guys pretend they know more than me about hockey just because I happen to have ovaries.

I was wearing my Orpik jersey at a bar during a playoff game and this dude comes up to me and is like, "Your boy Orpik doesn't hit enough."

I stared at him for a solid minute and said: You're wearing a Fedotenko jersey.

No one hates the Pens fanbase more than me.

LOL! Rep

see, that right there, is why I like you.

Well, we have a larger proportion of idiots than most fanbases. I just don't think that should reflect on me personally.

I have a friend who owns a Crosby jersey and doesn't watch any games. She will occasionally come out for a playoff game, but it's clear she just wanted to buy a jersey to look cute. I always make passive-agressive comments about it because it irritates me so much.

I have no doubt there is a higher proportion of bandwagoners, puck bunnies, idiots and posers amongst the younger crowd, and I can't fault loki or pix from being a bit jaded in dealing with that crowd on a day-to-day basis, but I really think it's selling the fanbase short focusing on the younger generation of Pens fans. What about the thousands of us older fans who have stuck thru it thick and thin, from the Kehoe-Burrows days all the way thru the 11,000-attendance-why-am-I-sitting-in-this-seat-when-the-team-won't-be-here-tomorrow? days.

Oh, there's definitely a hardcore fanbase there, and I wouldn't even say the bandwagon is limited to the younger crowd. I don't even mind bandwagon fans; just admit what you are and do your best to study the game. I get pissed when bandwagon fans try to act like they know more than anyone else or pretend they gave a shit when they clearly didn't. The sport needs bandwagon fans, but it needs bandwagon fans who become real fans, not the fairweather type.

We have a great solid fanbase, some of the best in sports, of those people that have hung around through everything and are just, in general, extremely knowledgable about the game. Most real Pens fans I know are fans of the entire game and not just the team, which I've noticed is pretty different than Steelers fans.

I mean, I consider myself a bandwagon Pitt basketball fan. I follow the season, but never go out of my way to make sure I watch all the games. I root for them during March Madness, but I don't do it with a fervor that suggests I'm really emotionally invested. I'm obviously not.

I prefer battles of wit now that I'm old enough to be arrested. I would verbally castrate him.
