Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Van Halen
The Cult
Great White or Guns n Roses

Great White was your favorite 80's hair band? I was into them, but hard to put them ahead of Def Leppard, Motley Crue, whitesnake and others, IMO

Good call on The Cult. Underrated/kickass band.

First off, there is so many great punk bands from the 80's, I won't even try. From Bad Religion to the Dead Kennedy's...great, raw stuff.

But then you also have some of the greatest Metal there is.

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
early Metallica
Slayer

Indie greats, such as the Pixies, Talking Heads, Violent Femmes and Sonic Youth.

Classics, such as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Queen and Van Halen.

80's rule.

Great White had some really good blues type hard rock with songs like Rock Me and All Over Now

But I forgot all about Motley Crue. Nice pick!

No idea if anybody else has said it, but Oingo Boingo is in my top 5 for sure.

Danny Elfman is a genius.

I was a fan of Motley Crue but every album got worse IMO. They went from good rocking metal to bubble gum pop... I did go to the theatre of pain concert, loudness opened, their guitar player was awesome!

I agree. They had a decent come back with Wildside, but after that it was over.
(how could they even come close to too fast for love or shout @ the devil)

U2 and Duran Duran were the same. They had awesome early albums, but sold out to pop shortly after.

For anyone who doesn't care for U2 should listen to their first 3 albums.
Boy, October and War contain some really heavy songs with incredible lyrics.
After "War" they went fuckin total mu-tard. (musically retarded)

It's not my cup of tea, but they are acceptable up to Joshua Tree. Utter garbage from 1990 on tho.

Boners politics and the fact that they are so massively overrated makes me hate them.

I can't stand REM either. I feel like ima get AIDS just from listening to em.

I'll probably gets some flak for this... but I also like Tesla, Ratt, Dokken, Cinderella and Whitesnake.

Some of R.E.M's shit annoys me and sounds like college chick music. Then they have some really good shit like orange crush, blame, took your name and the one I love. I can listen to those on any occasion.

Ratt, Dokken and Whitesnake are acceptable, Tesla was ok for a few minutes but Cinderella? Ewww.

I seen Ratt in concert back in 86 I think when they opened for Iron Maiden, Accept also played that day, front row outside concert, keg in the van, was a great time! I think I seen Dokken and Tesla but I don't remember who with...

The one REM song I have always liked was Everybody Hurts, i've dealt with alot of death in my life and it's just always a song i've liked.

Joshua Tree amazing album, I dont think i've ever owned another U2 album...

Good post Nos.

I think that's why I like U2's first three albums. I was 11 years old in 1980, and I had some real troubling times
from 80 thru 84 with family shit. I really sank into some of the family/political songs U2 had going on then.
If you ever get a free moment you should take a listen to "tomorrow" by U2. But make sure you listen to the whole song cause it get better as it goes on.
