WS rings- tie 1-1

This one is interesting since really none of the comparisons were any close... But i don't like voting for the speed guy if the power guy has a higher OBP... Plus of course the defense and defensive longevity problem that molitor had... the win has to go to Schmidt, but i really think this is very close...

This one is easy. Molitor had remarkable offensive stats for an infielder, but only about a third of his at bats came while he was playing third base. And his numbers look better across the board in games where he was dh ing or playing first or second base. Maybe he should be in a utility category with Pete Rose (and maybe someday Ben Zobrist). Schmidt was a pure third baseman. In fact, once he realized he couldn't play third base at an elite level it didn't take long before he ended his career. One day he's making a couple errors on easy balls, the next day he's on tv crying.

I was actually at his last game. I kept score that day, and I think I still have the book with that game in it, somewhere...

That same game, Will Clark hit his first career grand slam. A BOMB down the right field line, up into the second deck.

wow, that's a memorable game. The end of the Schmidt era, but Clark was just getting started.
