Foxx probably had the better years but Gehrig was more consistent.

Since this is same era players I will not take into account league averages...

BA-Gehrig wins(close)
Foxx-Career=.325, Best=.364, 499+PA better=9
Gehrig-Career=.340, Best=.379, 499+PA better=8

Power-Gehrig wins(VERY close)
ISO
Foxx-Career=.284, Best=.385, 499+PA better=8
Gehrig-Career=.292, Best=.392, 499+PA better=6

BB-Gehrig(Very close)
BB%
Foxx- Career=15, Best=17.6, 499+PA better=9
Gehrig-Career=15.6, Best=19.6, 499+PA better=6

SO-Gehrig Wins(not close)
SO%
Foxx-Career=13.6, Best=7.5, 499+PA better=5
Gehrig- Career=8.2, Best=4.5, 499+PA better=7

Post season-Gehrig wins(both were better than career averages in the playoffs)

Even though each comparison was close, Gehrig won each... So this is not close at all Gehrig wins in a landslide...

A great matchup. Two guys who played in the same general era, and plate appearances are almost equal. Really, Foxx just has the edge in home runs. Almost everything else goes to Gehrig. I'll say Gehrig benefitted from hitting in a better lineup, but he still wins.

OPS+ (Gehrig/Foxx)
120 - 14/13
130 - 13/12
140 - 12/11
150 - 12/10
160 - 11/8
170 - 10/7
180 - 7/6
190 - 6/2
200 - 3/2
210 - 1/0 (220)

Gehrig wins, but it is close.

Accolades
Gehrig - 2 MVP, 9 top 10 MVP, 7 ASG, 1 Batting Title, 3 OPS titles, 3 HR titles, 2 2B titles, 1 3B title
Foxx - 3 MVP, 6 top 10 MVP, 9 ASG, 2 Batting Title, 5 OPS titles, 4 HR titles

Fox was a bit more of a HR hitter, but Gehrig was a more well-rounded hitter (XBHs).

You cant go wrong with either of these guys. They are both absolute beasts. But I think I will go with Foxx. He has the extra MVP, batting title, HR title and OPS titles.

I cannot argue against anyone who took Gehrig, though. If I did this later this afternoon, or tomorrow, I very well may have picked him myself.

This is kind of a tossup but I took Gehrig. It is kind of arbitrary but I think a WAR of 7.0 or higher is really good. Gehrig had 10 of those and Foxx had 7. Gehrig also beat him by a little in most of the career averages like avg, obp ops ops+. Pretty close though
