I watched this on NFL Network. This is highly debatable of course. Some of these teams did NOT win the Super Bowl.
I can't believe the '84 49ers didn't make the list.

#1 1989 49ers (17-2)
#2 1978 Steelers (17-2)
#3 2007 Patriots (18-1)**
#4 1972 Dolphins (17-0)
#5 1962 Packers (14-1)
#6 1985 Bears (18-1)
#7 1998 Broncos (17-2)
#8 2004 Patriots (17-2)
#9 1968 Colts (15-2)**
#10 1992 Cowboys (16-3)
**did not win Super Bowl

Other teams worthy for this list...all won Championship/Super Bowl.
1923 Canton Bulldogs (11-0-1)
1929 Packers (12-0-1)
1976 Raiders (16-1)
1977 Cowboys (15-2)
1984 49ers (18-1)
1986 Giants (17-2)
1991 Redskins (17-2)

1985 Bears way to low... I feel dirty after saying that :D

1985 Bears and 1972 Dolphins would be at top of my list with 1989 49ers knocking on the door.

1985 Bears:
- # 2 scoring offense
- #1 scoring defense... and #2 not even close
- only 2 games won by 1 score
- 1 loss at Miami by 2 TDs
- Regular season vs other playoff teams 5-1 (only loss to Miami). Won the 5 games by 154 to 33
- Post season won 3 games 91-10

1972 Dolphins:
- #1 scoring offense
- #1 scoring defense
- 6-0 in 1 score games (regular and post season... all 3 post season wins 1 score)
- Only undefeated team in Super Bowl era

1989 49ers:
- #1 scoring offense... #2 not even close
- #3 scoring defense
- 2 losses by combined 5 points... but 2 losses nonetheless
- 4 1 score wins.. including LA Rams who they also lost to
- Post season won 3 games 126-26

1978 Steelers:
- #5 scoring offense
- #1 scoring defense
- 2 losses by combined 10 points, but also an overtime win
- 6 1 score wins including Super Bowl
- Post season won 3 games 102-46

2007 Patriots:
- #1 scoring offense... and #2 over 140 pts behind
- #4 scoring defense
- 4-0 in 1 score games... finished regular season undefeated
- Post season outscored opponents 66-49 in 3 games... but unfortunately for them, they were outscored in the last game and lost
- No losses in regular season... Ravens game could have been loss if not for a timeout
- If they had won Super Bowl, think they would be undisputed greatest team of all time... I can see them in top ten still

Another runner up: 1994 49ers

I would put the 85 Bears #1 the only thing that kept them from going undefeated was a Dolphins game in Miami with tons of guys from the 72 team in attendance. That Dolphins team to use a boxing term “ punched way above their weight class” on that Monday night and beat the Bears. It was also a wake up call for the Bears that they could be beat. Never seen a team as dominate as the 85 Bears before or since in the NFL

This is pretty much how I see it. It's the only team I've ever watched play where just about every team they played that year sent out a QB that didn't really want to play after about the 1st quarter. Yes, Miami solved that with the quick passes, well timed weather for them and a fantastic team effort, but I mostly witnessed teams trying to play the Bears with a QB that really wanted to be anywhere but in the pocket against that D and then a D that was on the field for just about the entire game chasing Willie Gault with a head start and the ball. It was insane....and to think they had 2 starters on D that missed the entire year in contract disputes...wow

One thing about the 72 Dolphins is that if you listen to the players that played in 72 and 73, most say the 73 team was better, just didn't have the same luck or breaks go their way.

Those Dolphins went 32-2 in two years, with a 20 game winning streak. The Dolphins didn't have back to back losses until 1975.

I can see why the players thought the 73 team was better, because the defense only allowed 10.7 points per game.

Did you know, there is only one team that didn't have a winning record while allowing less than 14 points per game. Which is crazy as they're have been 59 teams that did that.

Who is that team?

I didn't know so I went to google...looks like an Atlanta team went 7-7 and gave up under 10 a game...that O must've been just awful

Not sure the 07 Patriots should be on here. 2015 Carolina Panthers had the #1 offense in the NFL and the #6 defense. Beat Seattle and Blew out Arizona in the playoffs. Lost in the Super Bowl. 17-2. Team had 10 pro bowlers. No one would even consider them a top team because they lost the Super Bowl.

I think at least one of the older Brady Pats teams was better than the 07 one. One team went through a great Steelers team and a great Colts team on the way to the Super Bowl.

Id put the 85 Bears at no.1 and no lower than 2,andnot being bias about it either........
That team had the greatest def ever assemnled........
Back to back playoff shut outs and being the only team to do it......
All 3 games had defensive tds........
Def gave up 434 total yards for all 3 games.......
16 sacks in 3 playoff games......
Even to this day, commentators and coaches alsays refer back to the 85 Bears team.......

Only team that possibly could be better in my opinion would of been one of 80s Niners team.......
I never seen the 72 Dolphins play,so its hard for mr to comment where they should have ended up.....

That defense, known as the Grits Blitz, was out of this world. The D allowed 9.2 PPG and the O scored 12.7. If it just had an average offense it may have won the damn Super Bowl. Instead they were a DNQ for the playoffs. This team should've been at worst 11-3. What a waste.

These are the scores the defense allowed:
6--won
10--lost
3--won
0--won
3--lost
10--won
14--lost
10--lost
6--won
21--lost
0--won
16--lost
23--lost
7--won

Holy shit! If I’m in attendance at a 3-0 final I’m rioting and looting.
