Looks good but what about KD? Should he be in front of Elgin and Pippen already?

I agree -- but at least they are consistent. They put Curry higher than where he should be today. I think the way to think about it -- if KD stopped playing today, where would he rank ? (I'm not sure he'd be Top 10.)

They are falling in love with guys who have incomplete careers. (specifically KD and Curry)

Durant and Curry have a long way to go.
It seems a bit arbitrary.

Tracy McGrady would be dominating these lists if you made them in 2005 at his peak midpoint.
He was better than Kobe during those years and looked like a surefire HOF.

His career arc might have been better than both Durant and Curry at about the same age and years in.

Yep, Curry and KD are too high. The most important thing about being one of the best is longevity, a player that can sustain dominance for a long time. KD has done it for most of his career, still short. Curry has done it for what 2 years, not nearly enough.

Its in the NBA's best interest to market the current stars of the game. I think that's why we're seeing such high rankings for the current players.

At best, they get people overrating the greatness of the current product. At worst, they generate buzz and controversy about the current product. Win-win.

List is good overall. Some guys a little too high, others a little too low. I'd have:

1. Bird
2. Lebron (for now, he'll be #1 by the time he retires)
3. Dr. J
4. Elgin
5. Pippen
6. Worthy
7. KD (for now, he'll move up before he retires)
8. 'Nique
9. Havlicek
10. Barry
