So...they're upset...that there was *any* suspension?

Everybody I have talked to and everyone I read comments from at the Ravens board I visit now and then were surprised it was only two games.

Now we're coming around to the fact that he had a bad season and is probably not going to be all that critical for those two games.

Now its become more heated and waffling opinions because a Steeler fan is upset that Rice got less Ben got.

By the way, I could care less what he got.

Steeler fans have no room to complain as far as a football sense goes. But, talking about this without the sport interest involved, we should all be discussing the fact that Rice should be in jail. He was caught on video beating a woman. And the part of the video that didn't make it out into the public domain reportedly shows him knocking her out cold. From a moral point of view... this guy should have been put in jail.

lol ... saw that the other day ... lots of new donkey "12's" around ... no chance of getting any type of ticket to a game at a decent price this season because of it

22000 people went to go see Richard Shermans charity softball game at Safeco this past week ... more than an average mariners game lol

tickets sold out to go watch training camp practices in Renton too

But they are married now, so it's all okay.

I didn't realize it was THAT bad. Or that the evidence was that clear. Two games for that when dudes get 4 games for littering aaaannnndd....

A fucking disgrace.

Phew. OK We're all good. We can ignore this. Or should we just slap a hijab on this woman so that we'll all feel better bout bombing the shit out of Baltimore.

This is the bit that made it out somehow. The part that is not shown is where he hits her.

And where she hits him, supposedly repeatedly. Not that I am excusing it. The penalty is far too light in my opinion. Especially in light of some of the other suspensions the league has handed down. Its a horrible video and its hard for me to watch.

Now my conflicted part. I haven't thrown a punch (besides a donkey punch heyooooo!) in over 25 years but if someone is hitting me, male or female, especially in a enclosed place like an elevator eventually I will hit them back. Its a drunken domestic dispute, its not a one sided assault - at least from all the evidence released that's what it sounds like. Is it the fact that its a woman or his wife that's so upsetting? What if it was another male patron of the casino who hit him a few times then got knocked out? What would/should be the penalty then?

Again, this ruined Rice for me (admittedly I found him mildly annoying before) and I don't plan on cheering for him again. I would have given him 6 or 8 games and wouldn't have been upset with a longer suspension. At the same time if it happened they way its predominately been described as happening, I can not totally blame him. I am sure some of you will think less of me, or think I feel that way because he is a Raven, but its how I feel.

My attorney, Elocomotive, has advised me to state that that part of my post was a joke.

I don't think less of you. You illustrate your points well, and having chatted with you here for a while, Comeds, u seem to be a pretty genuine person. I don't agree with you about the difference between a man and a woman, though. There is a big difference, if you ask me. Not only did he strike a woman, but he struck a woman who he claims to love, and now that he's married to her, a woman he made an agreement with his religion to defend and respect.

A man can't hit a woman. If she is threatening your life, or threatening you with a weapon, that is obviously an exception, otherwise.. no way.

I occasionally bounced at a bar in Montana and the only time I was ever struck was by a woman. I just had to stand there and take it, I can't threaten her, I can't grab her arm, I can't do anything. But since she doesn't have a weapon, I just have to stand there and take it. The law isn't kind to guys in this instance but for the most part it's the women who need the protection from guys, not the other way around.

/the women who struck me was from Lethbridge by the way

I understand your sentiments, and I respectfully disagree. And not because I hate all things Ravens.

The part that sways it for me is the fact that only some of the evidence is out. And in my day to day life, I see certain pieces of evidence get "leaked" to try and paint situations one way. Bottom line, it seems to me that the parts that were released are specifically picked to make it seem like it was a "self defense" situation. I don't care that it wasn't one sided. She did hit him first. So what?

There are other ways to subdue someone who is not a professional athlete when you are. Especially one who plays a game where the primary physical activity is restraining. She weighs less than half of what he does. Even if she is beyond control of her emotions, you can restrain her without knocking her unconscious.

Or, as someone who routinely flexes his muscles after having run a few yards, he could just take it. His job is getting away and running...

And in regards to if it was a man he had the altercation with, it doesn't change it very much for me if it is a man. He gets paid a few million dollars a year to ride a gravy train of playing a game. If he can't learn to a) not get himself into situations like that or b) be able to get away when situations like that find him than he should at least certainly have the sense not to escalate them with violence. And if he, or anyone on that same gravy train, can't figure that out... perhaps that individual doesn't deserve that gravy train. Rules are really not that hard to follow.

That goes for anyone who has (to any degree) been involved in someone getting stabbed for laughing at a suit, fucked a passed out girl in a bathroom, shot themselves in the dick in a nightclub or beaten the snot out of someone in an elevator. I will lose my job for any arrest. And somehow I manage to not get arrested. And my gravy train is considerably smaller. Like that little one for kids at the mall.

Rules are not that fucking hard to follow.
