this is going to be one of the loopholes that the new cba has needs to close up. teams should not be able to bury their players and their cap hits in the minors just to cover up their screw ups

Eric Nystrom traded to the Dallas Stars for futures so the Stars can reach the league floor by paying all of Nystrom's $1.4 million deal

Bobmac:
DAL picking up Nystrom in trade from MIN is funny sorta. Could've had him at half price on re-entry but needed full salary to hit cap floor.

these "future considerations" are essentially "minnesota gets out of Nystroms contract"

Mike Russo has said that nothing is going the other way ... league cant allow that can they? the league is gonna make them give up a pick even if its a future 7th round pick, arent they?

they can probably make the conditions on the "asset" in return be some unattainable goal.
(nystrom plays 20 min a game, or something), like the B-bonus clauses in the rookie deals.

time for the league to have trade veto power? :D

Why didn't they just offer Brad Richards a league max contract last year and call it a day?

no owner = no ability to make longterm commitment, especially one that would outbid the Rags.

Worth noting, Connecticut have scratched Sean Avery from tonight's game roster. #AHL
