Nice insight. I guess that is why Tank has been a bit slow to come on. He is learning a new position. Glad to hear he is a hard worker. Hope he turns into a beast.

“Tank made a lot of strides,” Tomsula said. “He works so hard, and he’s talented. Tank came into the NFL, coming off a significant knee injury and making a position change. One of those is tough enough. He had both.”
According to Tomsula, the biggest adjustment for Carradine is that he played a wide-9 technique at Florida State, often lining up outside the tight end. In converting to the NFL, Carradine was moved inside to a 3-technique, shading on the outside shoulder of the guard.
“The analogy I’d use is Tank came from the backyard to a phone booth,” Tomsula said. “When you’re out there on the edge, you got all that space. There’s nobody outside as a blocking threat. Now you scoot down inside, you got stuff coming from both sides. The amount of space you’re working in is a lot smaller.”
Carradine suited up for each of the final eight games of the regular season and recorded three sacks -- the only sacks of his nine-game career -- in the final three games.

Yep, easy to overlook this position change. No guarantee he can succeed inside, so it might go back to Baalke?

if a DE goes to OLB, we know it all the time. But a linemen moving inside is too easy to forget. For this season, as long as Tank is working hard, staying positive, and not a disruption.

McDonald didn't do much till his 4th year.
