I hope they work this out. If they do, I actually think it might be for the best. We all saw last draft that Chip is not good at that aspect of NFL football. He overrates his Oregon guys, and Pac-12 guys like Barkley etc. Howie may be a dweeb, but the drafts he ran--they were damn good. He has a knack for "moneyball." I hope they can bury the hatchet and agree--Chip coaches the players, Howie picks the players. That might be a winning formula.

Im beginning to wonder how much input Howie even had in hiring Chip. Which btw, would have been the best thing he has ever done.

Eagles turning into a joke w/ Howie Roseman as the GM. Chip winning despite him. Something Reid couldnt do. He isnt a miracle worker though.

5 Years as GM for Eagles.... ZERO playoff wins. Eventually you gotta start looking at the FUCKING GM.

As for the draft this year. Id be careful assuming this class was a bust.

M.Smith had Barwin, Cole & Graham ahead of him. Plus he was a raw to begin with. Id give it another year before we condemn that pick. I think he actually has some really good potential. If he sucks in 2015 without getting hurt, it probably is safe to say that was a big ole whiff.

Matthews looks really good. I liked KB more but I can see why Chip wanted Matthews.

Huff will be better once he gets comfortable in the NFL. Im betting you see him as the pseudo starter in 2015. In place of Cooper.

Watkins was a weird pick because he doesnt fit the Kelly prototype at CB. He fits more at Safety or NCB. Could be he is Boykins replacement at NCB. Or maybe he cant do either. We'll find out in 2015.

Hart got a redshirt year which actually helps the Eagles because he didnt get credit for a year of service. He'll be a backup in 2015. Im thinking Bair or Curry are gone. Curry by trade. Chip knows his Ducks, if he really wanted him..he'll make it.

Reynolds? Who the hell knows. Doesnt look good for him.

B.Allen looks very competent as the backup NT. In rd. 7 cant complain about that pick at all.

This is all on Lurie. Lurie needs to decide whether he wants a Coach who is also his GM like he had with Reid here or he wants seperation between coach who owns the roster but the players chosen for those rosters the GM has the final say.Based on the move of letting Gamble go, I think Lurie wants the later. Now its up to Chip to decided whether he wants to coach in that atmosphere. If he doesn't then Chip not Howie will be gone.

Honestly I want Chip trying to figure out how the hell he is going to improve red zone offense, minimizing turnovers and gettings his corners to turn their head, he doesn't need to be out there on all these scouting missions. He should be telling the scouting staff and Howie what he needs in order to accomplish this. Let Howie and his team whittle it down to X amount of players then as a team Howie Chip, Donahue and whoever else is in there decide who they are going to go after. Howie having the final say based on salary cap implications etc. This has worked for many teams in the past and it should work here. If Chip or Howie does not want to work in that atomosphere then they go.

Either way all of this means we are that much further away from winning a Super Bowl. If this doesn't work out we should all start beating the drum for Lurie to sell the team because at the end of the day he is the one who is festering this atompshere.

Taz, you're right on your comments. Keep in mind that Howie doesn't know how to scout talent, but he does have people who do, and I believe he relies on them or their reports. And, the consensus should rule, as you said. Howie did have 2 good drafts when Reid lost the control over personnel. Reid was horrible at drafting, especially defense. Let's hope that this will work out.

Never liked Howie the Dweeb.
In all honesty none of us knows who has been the final say on drafting anyone although during Reids tenure the drafts sucked so we can speculate Reid had control. The Eagles have never been honest and seem to go out of their way to schmooze us with obvious deception.
I think Chip has an enlarged ego, Lurie a limited football acumen and Howie is living the dweebs life. I would default to Chip on most football related issues and bring in a true football mind as GM.
I read that Gamble wanted the GM role and left because there are openings available and since Lurie and Howie are joined at the hip he had no chance here.

Reports are that Gamble was "escorted" oout of the Novacare Center, so leads me to believe that he has been seeking a better job with other organizations, so they got hm out of here before he could take information with him. That is what many organizations do in the business and sports worlds when you leave to go to a possible competitor. We'll see.

I am not worried about this at all. Gamble has work for a few NFL teams and unless his career goal is to probably be a GM. Just wish him well and move on. I have no idea what Chip's contract says but I don't think he can just up and quit to take another job after year 2. Wouldn't a team like Tampa have to trade for him? Maybe someone who knows more about his contract can help here.

My guess is they don't like each other much but winning solved everything.

If Chip gets his QB in this draft then i won't be worried......if we don't select a QB by rd 2 then I'd be worried. Bryce Petty QB Baylor could be that guy. Watching him Shred that great secondary of Mich St.

This was my very first thought when I heard that he was escorted out of the building. That usually doesn't happen unless there's a risk of violence, or if there's the possibility of them taking resources with them. Namely, key personnel in this case.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Gamble was lining up a GM gig with another team and was beginning to recruit others on the coaching staff and in the front office to join him when word got back to Roseman.

This is pretty ugly. Personnel guys don't just get fired this time of year.

If Gamble is up for promotion to another team, normally, everyone is supportive and says good things. Its important to maintain good relations with guys that may be running other teams.

If your going to release personnel guys, you normally wait until after the draft and Free Agency. You want their work until then and you definitely don't want them with another team.

This was neither. In fact it happened really quickly after the Chip Kelly comments about Gamble and Roseman, so it reeks of discord in the Front Office and possibly with Kelly as well. I suspect people are blaming each other for Smith and the state of the secondary. Glad to know people in the office are passionate about these issues. Just hoping they are weeding out the bad apples rather than creating holes? We really have no way of knowing which.

It seems to me that Roseman, like Banner likes as many eyes on him as possible. Thats cool if you are a bad ass...I dont think either are though.

To me it looks like a Jerry Jones/Jimmy Johnson situation brewing. Maybe Lurie is secretly just as ego driven as JJ & Snyder, he just used Banner & now Howie to be his front man.

I really don't see an issue here. I wouldn't turn over full operations to a rookie coach. I also haven't seen any conclusive evidence of a rift between Chip and Howie. Most of what is being talked about is hearsay or speculation by sports writers looking for something to write.

I also happen to believe that Howie is showing clear signs of learning and getting better at his job.
