Well it's finally here folks. Forget about the mediocrity of Nebraska football and basketball. Nebraska baseball begins today finally on their road to a College World Series.
Nebraska opens the season with 4 games this weekend in Tempe, AZ against the UC Riverside Highlanders including a double header today beginning at 2 pm.
Nebraska has been picked to finish 3rd in the B1G this year, and I don't think it is too far of a stretch to say that not hosting a Regional would be a disappointing season. Plenty of experience coming back, most importantly on the pitching staff.
The Nebraska Huskers are looking to build off their 2016 success as they finished 36-22 (16-8 Big Ten) with an NCAA Regional appearance. The Huskers post-season dreams were ended early by the Cowboys of Oklahoma State after a disappointing showing in the Big Ten tournament. They look to make a statement in 2017 and redeem their early post-season departure with a rematch with the Pokes in Frisco. The Huskers will also have the opportunity to face former Husker Head Coach and now current Head Coach for the Razorbacks, Dave VanHorn in what is sure to be an early season highlight for both squads.
