I can see it.

I can also see him staying pat and there just being a solid rotation of players. I mean really, the OLB in a 3-4 can be an extra DE anyway.
Yep, it's nice to have some versatility though. This defense is really starting to take shape. I still see holes in the secondary, but the front 7 the Bears have assembled looks very formidable. I also like the way the OLine is shaping out. If Long can make some strides in his development as a LT I think the Oline starts to look very solid. And let's not forget about Kevin White. He is basically a rookie coming into this year as well.

I agree completely. Get that front 7 getting pressure and Kyle Fuller will look all pro.

That 4th round was...underwhelming, but Howard in the 5th largely makes up for that.

Curious to see if they'll throw a pick at a QB.

Another Safety.

Maybe they ARE looking at Hall as a CB?

I think we've gotten into the rounds where you just take who you think is the best player irregardless of need. Most picks from here on out won't even be in the NFL by the end of the year.

I know and agree, but it's a pretty deep draft. Hell, Richard Sherman was taken in the 5th.

Defense starts with D..... as in names... Deon, Deiondre, DeAndre... Added to Demontre Hurst & WR Deonte Thompson.

5 guys on the Bears with a similar name... hmm, good sign or too much? ha

What is their astrological sign? I think that matters just as much!

No, I hate the BPA bullshit, I think thats easily an excuse for all the keyboard GM's here. Pace showed balls to move up, but then played the numbers to get one of four guys, whichever fell to them. I would have preferred trading up another pick to get the TE Jay needs to bail him out and catch the ball thrown in his vicinity:dhd: I say if TE Henry was there at 41, there would be no trade down.

What? We have a TE... A pretty damn good one.

Like what we did late, this is a solid B/B+ draft! The only thing keeping me from saying A, not being 100% sold on our #1, you know the 30 year old small forward for the Bulls.:D

My favorite offseason in a while. A commitment to building the oline and front7. Equates to a commitment to running the ball and stopping the run. Unless you have a top 5 qb, thats how you need to do it IMO.

The Cutler Haters have their SAVIOR!!!
:dhd:
Nah... this is a decent vet for backup duty. We won't need him, but it's a nice signing IMHO. Go BEARS!

Well, you really don't know if we'll need him or not. History actually indicates we will. Cutler has missed a game every year of his career outside of 2008 and 2009.

The Bears aren't done finding prospects just yet. General manager Ryan Pace is searching long and hard looking for undrafted free agents to join the team for summer activities.

Here's who Chicago has signed as undrafted free agents so far:

TE Ben Braunecker (Harvard)

LB Don Cherry (Villanova)

OT Adrian Bellard (Texas State)

WR Darrin Peterson (Liberty)

OT John Kling (Buffalo)

DE/OLB Roy Robertson-Harris (UTEP)

CB Taveze Calhoun (Miss. State)

Hey guys...been awhile. Hope everyone is well. Just a few quick thoughts on this offseason and draft.
I very much like what has been done on the defensive side of the ball. As for the draft, a lot of the recent mocks in the last few weeks leading up to the draft had the Bears taking Floyd. Yes, his build is a bit of concern, but this kid has speed and quickness thats among, or the best of anyone in this class. Regarding tradin up- does it make sense to stay at 11 if theres a good chance the player who is at the top of their draft board goes at 10? They had the flexibility to secure the pick- and exercised it. Plus they got it back by trading in the 2nd round- and they landed a player who IMO will compete for a starting job. I really like the Howard pick- downhill runner with size and decent speed. IMO has the potential to shake up the RB corps big time. I guess health is a concern with him. All in all a good draft.

~cheers!
