I am not denying Mo’s cutter being more effective then anything the goose had in his repitoire of pitches, if he had any, just remember the high hard one under the chin. My argument is if Mo had to get as many outs, how effective would that cutter have been?

And my argument is you're not giving him the proper credit by believing he was a 1 inning pitcher. Yes, that was by and large the closer role during the span of his career, but there were many, many times, especially in the post-season where he went longer than that.

The guy is the runaway leader in career ERA+, and qualifiers have to have a minimum of 1000 IP.

Well, the rant started off by attacking all us "stats geeks" and really never got any smarter than that.

Then it went to tattoos, lack of respect and some other bullshit about it being too "global" -- which is either stupid, racist or both. Of course, the problem is the players are in much too good of condition. And of course, they aren't very talented. Seems like this one of those threads that I tend to follow because I enjoy watching gerbils in a wheel.

I will agree that I don't like beards on ballplayers or women.

as i stated earlier, goose had no one to set him up or bail him out. Mo came in mostly with lead with having to get 1 or 2 batters out with much more pressure on the hitter! i really don't know what you are trying to prove here, is Mo is the better athlete, YES! did goose have to do more with less, YES!

Wow. You just disregard everything I posted-from Rivera's dominant multiple inning appearances to Gossage's stellar supporting cast.

You do you bro. As Michael Kay would say, "See ya!"

I don’t disregard anything, you can’t see past your own opinions.
And it’s ‘ there it goes, and how many times did he come up short?

Sorry, Mo is the best there ever was. It's not his fault he was born 20 years after Gossage and reliever roles had changed. Mo did just fine working multiple innings throughout his illustrious (mythical?) career.

Gossage had a Cy young award winning reliever setting him up when he first got to NY, and then had Ron Davis (who was sensational in '79 and '80)

I loved Goose back in the day, but his constant whining about this perceived disrespect is really, really getting old, and his insistence on singling out the greatest closer who ever lived for attacks is what's truly sad.

I believe half of Mo's post season saves were more than one inning

This ying-yang posts some obscene shit about the game being a sham, then devotes the rest of the time trying to tell us something about a couple of relief pitchers. There are weird fuckers out there and some of them need to get back on their meds.

Let's hear some more about the 'global' racism that pisses you off.

Sparky Lyle
Ron Davis
5 outs per appearance to 3 outs per appearance

I would go with Rivera

I agree with the OP. How can the greatest closer of all time lose game 7 of the WS to an expansion team during the one season non Yankees fans wouldn't have minded seeing the Yankees win the WS?
