With Marc Savard out for the season after suffering another concussion, the Bruins now appear to be on the lookout for a top-line center, the Boston Globe reports.
The Bruins have plenty of salary cap space to accommodate a first-line forward, though GM Peter Chiarelli could also acquire a veteran defenseman to solidify the backend.

"We aren't going to be able to replace Marc," Chiarelli said during yesterday's news conference. "We're looking now at Zach [Hamill] and we don't know if he's the answer or not. We'll want some experience, too."
The Globe suggests Stars center Brad Richards could be a target, but with Dallas battling for home-ice advantage, it's unlikely GM Joe Nieuwendyk would pull the trigger.

Richards, however, is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The Bruins have plenty of trading assets, including the likes of forward Blake Wheeler, defenseman Mark Stuart, and one of two first rounds picks (they own Toronto's first round pick, acquired as part of the Phil Kessel trade).

Chiarelli could also look at bringing in star defenseman Tomas Kaberle from the Maple Leafs, a player he's long coveted.

Not sure how I feel about that. I've seen him play a couple times, and dont think he will make any significant replacement at center to Savvy. Like Chiarelli said, we aren't going to be able to replace Marc, but we have to put someone solid in there. Unless we can bring him up, he's def not first line material, and also acquire Kaberle for the backend, I'd be content with that. But to just rely on Hamill and Seguin to be the forefront, :L, no.

I think Richards would be a good acquisition if we could sign him this summer, but we would be giving up a lot of assets to borrow him for the offseason. If the right deal came along I wouldn't mind giving up something to acquire Kaberle, he would be immediately helpful on our PP which would make the B's downright dangerous in the playoffs.

Hey now, theres bull shit threads about those gay birds from Pennsylvania all the time. I think I can sneak a Bruins one in. The only teams whose boards actually get used are the Flyers, Devils and Sharks.

IPW could lick a sack, his team won the other night due to my positive energy I instilled in the GNT.

I read that the B's may be interested in Sergei Gonchar. He is a minus-16, I really hope they pursue Kaberle and not Gonchar. Just not sure how much we would have to give up for Kaberle. I def see Brad Richards as being out of reach. I dont want to part with that first round pick. There are some good players in the next draft.
