True, but like I kind of eluded to earlier, they literally are walking away for a mere $200,000 more than they offered. They had $9 mil before today left under the cap.

There's a million reasons why this doesn't add up.

$200,000 is like pennies in pro sports. He has untapped offensive abilities. Despite his struggles, it seemed as though he was one of Lindy's favorites as a two-way guy. He's only 25. He's homegrown talent. Regier never hinted they were going to go in a different direction when the ruling came in.

Many questions about this move.

Regier said they are having troubles with their budget for the year and are really close to the top of the budget? They have only spent $50 million so far, $6 million less than last year. Do they have a big deal in the works? I'm a little confused.

Regier almost implied that they are done spending.

Sounds like the Sabres ownership have imposed their own salary cap - the budgeted salary amount.

yeah, but we're like 6 million under what we spent last year. WTF!? Seriously? we aren't going to pick anybody else up and we couldn't keep Kennedy? I'm starting to wonder how much of the Sabres managerial problems are with Quinn and Regier and how much of it lies squarely on Golisano's shoulders.

Regier said somewhere in today's presser that the team is above where it was at last year at this time. Pretty sure that is what he said. Bucky Gleason was hammering him pretty good today, but IMO he's way too biased when it comes to players from the area.
