ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons.

The greatest football player of all time and one of the most incomparable American athletes of any era, Brady had never so much as hinted at retirement before the past few weeks. It certainly isn't because of his play, which remained at an MVP level for 2021. Brady's family and the lack of anything left to prove seemed to be the deciding factors. From a sixth-round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft – 199th overall – to seven Super Bowl titles, three MVPs, five Super Bowl MVPs, and countless other accolades, Brady's career is the epitome of a David turned Goliath, and it's unlikely there will be another sports story like his during our lifetimes. In addition to Brady's likely unmatchable postseason feats, he finishes his career No. 1 all time in both passing yards (84,520) and touchdowns (624). We will hear plenty from Brady between now and then, but his next NFL step will be Canton, Ohio.

Not saying it isn't true...But his dad say's it's not true.

I believe just leaked sooner than anticipated.

Most importantly, more wins than any player ever, by a large, large margin.

TB12 is a control freak. Especially when it comes to his brand or family.

Word is that he has not informed the Bucs officially and was planning to do it when he returned from vacation.
Rappaport stands by his sources and agrees that it wasn't supposed to get out. Like any reporter these days, being first is critical to one's reputation and status. Better he report it and take the crap from Brady's father than not to report it and be left holding an empty bag.

It's more than TB wanting to be a control freak.
It's every Free Agent QB now knows Tampa will be looking for a QB, Every team looking to deal a QB now knows.
It takes any back door bargaining power away from Tampa that they may have had if they knew and nobody else did.

"In his retirement announcement, Brady thanked all members of the Buccaneers organization, the city of Tampa, his body coach Alex Guerrero, his agents Don Yee and Steve Dubin, his parents and siblings, and his wife and children. His post makes no mention of the Patriots or New England."

I don't really care if he mentioned the Patriots. That facet of his life and our franchise history are over.

Brady's son gets a backup QB role in college.
Brady tells him you are going to have to put in long hours to get where you want.
Brady's son tells him, "fuck that! You were never home and we never had any time together. I'm going to fuck cheerleaders and wait for my inheritance"

Same here. That said, with age comes wisdom and experience and I have no doubt that if Brady is holding some type of animosity towards NE he'll get over it.

It was a fun ride but fuck it, it's Mac Jones time.

I figure it's about the Bucs now, but he will re sign and retire as a Pat and that's when the celebration of his 2+ decades of success will start.

He has announced his plan to retire, but has he filed the papers with the NFL?
