When you think about it though, there's a fairly limited number of teams that need Thomas, can afford to tack on $5million, have the right prospects to give up, and want an "aging" goalie. I like Timmeh, but he's very likely on the decline from here on out...and I think many GMs will realize that. That said, it is only one year on his contract...but the teams that really need goalies are probably trying to get youth involved for a long term fix, not a one year stop gap with a 38 year old *looks to Washington*

I found this interesting...Washington's Braden Holtby made 31 saves. All 18 of Washington's playoff wins in the last four years have been by a rookie goalie, the Associated Press wrote.

Actually as the Bruins go what could be better then getting him off the roster right now. He still has skill but is probably on or near a decline. He is a 5 mill cap hit..that money could be used in better areas and we have Tuuka to start.

We may even get a descent player out of it.

No doubt, Chia would never just let him go for nothing. He's worth a damn good return.

I remember during the boycott whitehouse thing Cam was on sports radio and by his tone you could tell he was pissed about Thomas doing that. Cam runs the show more or less so i would think we have seen Thomas in his last game as a Bruin.

Really saddening though. I mean he truly did win us that Cup last year... But it is time for Rask to take over. Really sucks seeing someone who did so much for the team depart.

Rask/Khudobin is a damn good duo going forward. Hopefully Thomas can get us a true sniper on the ice and/or some decent picks. Which I think he will/

I'd hope they ship Thomas out West. I'd hate to have to root against him often.

He's old, and a political nutbag.

Detroit, here he comes!

This works.

Timmy wouldn't have to miss as many Michigan militia meetings either.

what a fuckin douche

Tim Thomas noticeably used the pronoun "they" -- not "we" -- when discussing his Bruins teammates at multiple points after Boston’s Game 7 loss to the Washington Capitals.

The 38-year-old goaltender, who is clearly intent on being viewed as an individual first and foremost, was good but not spectacular in his team’s 2-1 loss to the Capitals. A tipped puck beat him for the first goal, then Mike Knuble barreled over him in overtime before Joel Ward scored the dagger.

Thomas now enters an offseason filled with the unknown.

He's entering the final year of his contract, and his no-trade clause expires this offseason. Plus, the Bruins will likely have 25-year-old Tuukka Rask (a restricted free agent) waiting in the wings.

Thomas showed some signs last night that he may be anticipating a trade.

Some observers said they spotted him stepping on the Bruins logo in the middle of the home dressing room -- a definite no-no -- after the game was over.

He also referenced the rest of the Bruins team as “they” at least five times during his postgame interview.

"What it says about our guys is that they’re battlers and they’re still champions," he said. "They gave everything they had to the bitter end. Unfortunately this is sports and they fell short this time."

The remarks were consistent with Thomas' tendency to paint himself as an individual.

He made waves when he skipped the team's visit to the White House earlier this season, a statement that many within the B’s organization felt created an unneeded distraction. His subsequent posts to his Facebook page only exasperated the issue.

After that, many speculated that Thomas and the Bruins would part ways when the season was over. And perhaps Thomas wants to go. Perhaps he's had enough of the Bruins.

But before he can be dealt, the team must answer a few questions.

Is a combination of Rask and Anton Khudobin ready to take over as the goaltending tandem? And what might the Bruins get in return?

It would have been difficult for the Bruins to trade Thomas if he had put together another magical postseason this year, but that didn't happen. The Capitals made sure of it. His .923 save percentage only ranked 11th among playoff goaltenders.

“[The Capitals] stuck to their game plan. They made it very difficult for us to generate any offense or any momentum with the style that they played,” said Thomas.

Then Thomas launched into his "they" not "we" comments.

Was it a verbal slip? Or was it the first sign that the goaltender and his team are headed for a permanent breakup this summer?

Stay turned to Thomas’ Facebook page, which should be lighting up with context clues any day now.

Thomas has done a great job for the Bruins and I hope he ends up in a good situation for him. When I look at athletes I don't judge them by race, religious or political beliefs.

The same goes for actors or other performers, it's what they accomplish in their field that should matter the most. It just seems shallow to me to judge them just because outside of their profession they don't happen to feel or think the same way I do. JMO.

really Im not judging him on his political beliefs ... Im judging him on the way he treats his teammates. This is a team sport. If you want to be an individual and put yourself before the team go play tennis

I was thinking that Jstew was showing his hatred for Thomas and the Bs and nothing more until I got to the "they just came up short" quote. That's bad form.

I think the guy is just a dumbass who has gotten too big for his britches.

I think if he was on ANY team Id be railing against this guy ... if he was on a team i played on, i would have put him through a locker if he pulled shit like this
