i heard Pierre Lebrun say this morning on the radio that this would probably been in the works regardless of whether Thomas pulled that white house stunt because the franchise wants to go with Rask ... but he did mention that alot of players in the room lost alot of respect for Thomas for being so selfish

I wonder how many teams feel they are a goaltender away because that is really what it would take to move TT

Yup I do. As much as I would like to think that all that Thomas bullshit (whitehouse) did not effect anything I just cant.

I also read between the lines on some of his comments.

ESPN Boston is reporting one and the same. Doesn't really surprise me...just trying to think where he'd go and what he'd garner. Great goalie obviously, but the age factor?

I think Rask has been ready to start in this league since 2009; he just had the same obstacle as Cory Schneider. He's already led the league in save percentage and goals against average once each, and that's more than a lot of really good HOF goaltenders can claim.

Thomas' stock is still high. It's definitely the right time to pull the trigger on a deal just to get some assets in return.

His cap hit is 5 mill a year. Not bad really. I would bet he is gone well before training camp.

I am not blaming the Bruins loss of this series on thomas or do i really have negative thoughts about him. He won us a cup last year. he is all pro in my mind.

Actually as the Bruins go what could be better then getting him off the roster right now. He still has skill but is probably on or near a decline. He is a 5 mill cap hit..that money could be used in better areas and we have Tuuka to start.

We may even get a descent player out of it.

i think Tim Thomas to Toronto makes more sense ... except he'll have to bite the bullet and play in a communist country :noidea:

I'd have traded him this past off-season (yeah, it wasn't going to happen though) because his value was so high and he is an aging goaltender, but his value seems kinda low right now..

Nah thomas stock is still fairly high. he is in the conversation as one of the better goalies in the league still.

Argument could be made that after that long Cup run last year..short off season and grind of season just wore him out. Seeing we are now out he will have more or less a long off season.

Oh ya he still was prettty damn good against the Caps. The forwards let us down a lot more then Thomas did.

the goalie market isnt what some people think it is ... the key is to get Toronto interested because they have the greatest potential to overpay imo

When you think about it though, there's a fairly limited number of teams that need Thomas, can afford to tack on $5million, have the right prospects to give up, and want an "aging" goalie. I like Timmeh, but he's very likely on the decline from here on out...and I think many GMs will realize that. That said, it is only one year on his contract...but the teams that really need goalies are probably trying to get youth involved for a long term fix, not a one year stop gap with a 38 year old *looks to Washington*
