Agree, this has been a year of what if. If a dozen plays went just a little different we could be anywhere between 2-9 and 10-1 right now!:agree:

What could have been and it was a hell of a lot better than most expected. A lot of us thought next year would be our year, and IMO it is shaping up that way.

You said it brother!

Unbelievable…

Fumble on the KSU 2 yard line. Have a punter kick away from his coverage. Have a punt returner fail to run away from a ball on the ground.

Get inside the KSU 30 yd line 6 times and score but 10 points…

Unbelievable…

I guess I feel I am eating crow a little bit...I thought the team was gelling mid season and was about to get on a run...maybe they would have, but man the turnovers and the punt coverage this year has been abysmal!...I told BBW...it is time to cut Deforrest loose...for a guy with a big reputation for coaching special teams it ain't happening...

I agree though DCW..next year has a chance to be our year...as much as I like the way the defense has played its fatal flaw is at Lb...they try hard but they just aren't athletic enough to get to the QB or pass protect...

I'm not sure if was you or another poster who qualified a prediction with "If Clint stays healthy" That was key. I think that with a healthy Clint, we overcome the fumbles and ST gaffs.

This year had the chance to be the year. Clint/White/Alford and our D gave us the chance to have a really special year. We should have had only 2-3 losses as we outplayed every team other than Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama. With solid STs, undefeated would have been a possibility.

EForrest needs to go. Wherever he had been has been has been the worst unit on the team.

A post game quote from Dana:

"I’ve been coaching them for two weeks. Everything you see out there is a direct result of what I’ve been telling them. I can assure that I’ve been telling them to get away from the ball if you’re not going to field it. I don’t know why (Vernon Davis) did that. I have no explanation. I promise you I’ve told him that twenty times in the last two weeks. And he knows it…. He didn’t field the punt and he didn’t get away from it. I don’t have an answer for you, and I don’t think he does either."

You can sense the frustration. Not sure what else they can do as coaches other than maybe written tests through the week to go with maybe some time on Law school hill?

:agree:if indeed Holgorsen has been coaching the STS for the past few weeks, I wonder if the decision has already been made to send Efore packing??

Hadn't thought of that but if memory serves I thought Defo's area wasn't the return guys anyway. Maybe :noidea:

I have no insider info; however, I watched a video prior to the Texas game, and Dana was working with Davis on punt returns. The video showed him coaching him up…

I believe Galloway was responsible for the kick returners… both punt and KO… but, I'm not sure…

Anyways, I agree with the general consensus that DeForest should be relieved of his duties. Someone has to take the fall… and, he is the coordinator.

I wish RichRod had done the same to his ST Coordinator when he had the chance too.

Hell gents I was hoping Defforest would turn this thing around, but the special teams in all but what maybe 2 games have made some huge mistakes.....I have never seen anything like this on punt return....those posting last night during the game know that....I mean what the hell was he doing on that play? It makes no freaking sense and the sad thing he has ben the best of the lot.....lol

Defforest is gone and I have no gripes with it...I hope the DB's do not take a step back cause I really do feel like he has helped there, but for the love of god I am saying that after a game we gave up 400 yards passing. :L

The ST issues have not been isolated to returns, coverage has been suspect, kicks out of bounds, punts right to all Americans, short punts, penalties, everything to do with STS has been bad. Efore has turned everything he has touched at WVU into a turd, I don't know what's up, as he did well other places, but he has nothing here to warrant his huge salary.

The obsession continues, give it up BB, you guys bitch about bringing up the past but you never pass up an opportunity to take a jab, never was our STS as bad as they've been this year, it is not only coverage that is an issue, it is all facets.

WTF are you talking about?

DAD… don't you remember the wisdom of Santayana…. "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"?

Dana has repeatedly shown he is unlike his predecessors, he will replace coaches who have shown they are not performing well.

Think how differently things would have turned out if Rich had had the same set of balls as Dana…

So if Defo goes (BTW there are rumors floating around for contract extensions for either Dana or assistants, anyone have info on that?) Who are some names yall would like to see get mentioned for the ST spot, or do we promote from within?

I read a dream scenario a few weeks ago on some blog, that said Beamer was retiring after this year, and Foster was headed here.........I know there is nothing true in it, but talk about ST fixes!!!!

I'm interested to hear where those rumors are coming from... Whispers have reached my ear that DH is back on the hot seat. I haven't had a chance to talk to my friend, but I sure hope DH isn't in danger of going. I see what he's building and it looks like a bright future.

Luck did fire a coach after consecutive 9-4 seasons. I could see one scenario where luck pulls the trigger for Bradley. If Bradley gets some love from other HC job openings, and Luck really thinks he has what it takes, I would not be surprised. I always that part of the Bradley hire was for a just in case HC.

Luck could point to our November record, poor attendance for the KSU game. He has been quick to clean house in the past. If we lose to Iowa state next week, I'd bet HCDHs days will be up soon.

If things happened to where Luck HAD to make that move OR if Dana were to take another job ect. I would like the Tom Bradley as HC move... Very much actually.
