I wouldn't go that far. The following week he rang up the GB defense for 122 yards and a TD (5.3 yds per carry). He didn't break 100 in the playoffs, but still got over 6 yards per carry against the Dolphins. His next season he broke 1000 yards for the second time in his career. 1990 was also the season KC acquired Barry Word, and started using him. Okoye's production took a hit because he was splitting more carries. So, while it was a good hit on Atwater's part, I don't think it was earthshattering for Okoye.
In reality, Okoye had one big season in 1989 and that's pretty much it. He didn't do much before then, and split with Word for a few seasons afterward.

Oh, I agree that it was likely the hardest hit Okoye ever took. Atwater hit that hard. In fact Okoye still gets asked about it from time to time. It's the assessment that it affected the remainder of his career that I didn't agree with. No worries though.
