More so than Hockey!

Football just ended, Olympics are starting.

Once March Madness begins people will flock back to basketball.

Yep this is always a dead period in sports right after the superbowl because there's absolutely nothing going for the next month except for regular season action in CBB, NBA, and NHL. When mid march rolls around March Madness will be here, baseball season will be a few weeks away, the masters will be a few weeks away, and the NBA playoffs will be like a month away

Still better than last season when teams struggled to score in the 100's.

I think the East sucking is hurting as well. The only interesting thing to watch in the reg season will be the race for the last 3 spots in the Western Conference. Everything else is WAYYYY too predictable.

The race for 1st in the West is interesting as well. The race for HCA in the east will be good as well. Right now seeds 3-6 out East are separated by 1.5 games

No I mean like the East may as well stop playing now. We already know the two teams that will be in the ECF.

Don't be so certain about that. Brooklyn if healthy can take either of these teams to at least 6 and don't sleep on Toronto. They play Indiana really well

I would love to see an upset... but let's be real here. IND-MIA will both be focused come playoff time. The other teams won't stand a chance barring a major injury.

It is arguably the most boring season in the last 20 years or so.
The playoffs are the least anticipated playoffs in a long time to me.

Indiana, Portland, San Antonio, Phoenix, and just about every other playoff team have limited entertainment value. Only Miami seems even somewhat interesting if you remove your HARDCORE fan goggles.

The fading Lakers should have caused these issues earlier, but he HEAT put a band-aid on the potential boredom problem.
Miami was so interesting in fandom and haters that it moved the dial.

Now that Miami seems more routine, there is not a dominant NBA theme.
How many times can we pretend its 2011??

Plus, Kevin Durant is a sleep inducing mute boring superstar in a small market
That is not helping either.

To each their own, the NBA is hands down the most boring sport in the world.

Agreed with all of this except for Kevin Durant. He is propping up the regular season right now

The Bulls and the Nets falling apart really hurt the league. The 4 team race in the East was supposed to be a big deal

Yea, it's always been about the tradition-rich teams like Lakers and Celtics that generate interest and spur other chatter. With the two teams scraping the bottom of the barrel this year, it's up to the Heat, Pacers, and other WC teams to bring up the rear. So far it's been blah by all accounts.

Maybe ASG weekend will perk things up, or some player will cause drama, and/or maybe a devastating injury to one of the contenders stars may happen. Even with all that, it's obvious that with no Kobe/Lakers & Celtics in obscurity, overall interest in the game got a little bit boring. One good indicator is reading the various subject threads, yawn.
