I loved him back in the day, but just because he was a great player, doesn't mean he will be a great coach.

Coaches are not just about winning and losing, but also representing the team... it helps PR, ad revenue, co-promotions, etc.. you can't act like you are still playing hockey.

And I am sure the exec mgmt of the team pulled him aside in the last day and told him that same thing...

Great to get fired up... but don't go too far.
