The big news for the Redskins and the Combine will be Washington having sit downs with Watson, Kizer, Trubisky and Possibly Mahomes.

The reason this will be big news is, much like facility visits, teams are only allowed a limited number of player visits during the Combine.

I just looked at tape on Kizer and....he SUCKS
short range was terrible, scrambles and tries to run over defenders, med throws were solid. Long passes ok.
Blew wide open passes despite no pressure and clean pocket. Mahomes already has the WORST footwork i've EVER seen in any level of competition. Tribusky never looks like the same guy, sometimes good -- sometimes like Oswieler - will hold the ball forever. Watson is going to get injured in pre-season and will be forced to run west coast, 2 max reads. Again, if we draft any of these dudes -- i hope they can sit a YEAR. They are BAD in the sense, that they aren't ready to start asap.

I'm sure this will help cousins feel wanted.

If the plan and the desire is to deal Kirk, who cares how it makes him feel?

And if IM feeling my fuck Kirk Cousins, its a pretty good way to let him know we are willing to move on without you if thats whats required.

Bonus it would give the Skins headline billing for a few days.

Completely disagree on Kizer. Hes my favorite QB in this class. Hes 6'4" 230 lbs with a strong arm that can make all the throws. And he puts the ball on the money with some very impressive throws. Can throw with anticipation. And I think most importantly hes very good at moving in the pocket which is something that most guys cant seem to learn. Admittedly, hes inconsistent at times and he makes poor decisions at times but he at least can do everything you need from a stud QB.

Mahomes yes has very bad footwork. Most people seem to think its not as big of a problem as it seems though because it doesnt actually effect his throws much. Hes got an absolute cannon and is mobile as well. He makes some absolute WTF plays and I think would be best off sitting for a bit but his upside is immense.

Trubisky Im not sure what to think. Agree he seems all over the place. Im not a huge fan but I dont think hes awful.

Watson is my least favorite of the group mostly because I feel he has the lowest upside of the group.

Sitting a guy for a year might not be bad but I dont think they all NEED to.

Oh I agree. I've been saying since the offseason we shouldn't worry and that he'll be back on a LTD. Aside from your thread asking what we'd do in the situation you drew up I haven't even given any thought to offseason plans at QB. But I'm starting to think things aren't going as smoothly as I thought. And the longer things drag on and the more drama we hear about the more concerning things look. I don't really trust the FO to do this right rn.

I'm sure this will help cousins feel wanted.

I wanted to speak on that in another post but since I'm here and you've provided a real nice Segway here goes.

Kirk says publicly that he wants to feel wanted right? Well what does that mean? Do we offer him a lifetime pass to Hookers-R-Us? How about road trips on Snyder One? Nope, he's like every other football player who says that "love" or feeling "wanted" is directly linked to how much they're getting paid.

We cannot make the mistake of conflating Kirk the purported "nice guy" with Kirk the businessman. There's no such thing as the hometown discount in this regard. Kirk will go with the team that gives him the best long term deal, even Cleveland. How do I know this to be true, well, ask yourself, what was the name of that NFL team that paid exorbitant amounts of cash to players, did most of their "winning off the field" and if you haven't guessed it by now, has an owner named Dan Snyder?

Know what?, we truly sucked during those times, worse we paid to suck, and now we pretend that it can't happen with Kirk elsewhere? Why? What's so special about Kirk that he too won't follow the money? Is it in thinking that he wants to win? They all want to do that, but for him, like all others, nothing will say "love" or "wanted" more than an even fatter bank account.

Yeah I think that will be the most important factor. I also think right or wrong that he feels slighted by other things. And I think theres nothing wrong with him going for every dime he can get (even though I wish hed give us a nice discount).

I really don't want to keep going back tp previous posts, but they have already screwed this up by not signing him last year. There was absolutely zero thought put into this massive fuck-up then and I said so... then! I still can't understand the drafting of Nate Sudfield. They knew then that there was difficulty in getting Kirk resigned. What??? they thought that nobody would notice? So they tried the okey doke and picked up Sudfield hoping to give the impression that they were set and just needed someone who was a project. We all knew differently then, but as usual too many here were all too willing to give them the benefit of doubt. Well, I hope that Kirk felt that warm fuzzy feeling that came with the drafting of Nate Sudfield.

I think he is perfectly justified in feeling slighted and I dont blame him for NOT giving a home town discount. Lets us not forget the team could have avoided all this.

He's long past the point of giving a hometown discount and here's why.... It doesn't exist!! Not here and definitely not now. The only way that there would have been anything like a discount ever being considered would have been if this team had made a move to upgrade at QB last year. Don't get me wrong, but there is no one here to even challenge Kirk for playing time and that puts the team in the unenviable position in which they currently find themselves.

Strange, how it works towards getting that hometown discount when they know that someone is waiting, willing and able to take their spot.

Depends what he feels slighted over. There's some things I don't blame him for but also don't blame the team for and some things I would blame him for if he felt slighted about. But no matter what he feels slighted about he should be trying to get every dollar he can. Who the hell am I to tell him not to go get his payday.

Wouldn't it be comical if the Skins dump Cousins and draft a Watson (RG4) and in 4 years are faced with paying this new guy a now 50 million a year. Meanwhile KC has put together a solid career as starter for SF taking a defunct team to the playoffs in his first year there, and since.

One thing that I hate about Cousins is his "I just wanna feel wanted" attitude. I mean,, dude,, we all just want a freakin winner here... the street is traveled on both ways baby. Getting payed to play is all that matters.

Hard to not feel wanted when you were being offered $16 million a year last year, played for $19 million a year, and are most likely going to be tagged to play for $24 million this year.

I admire KC's balls though: betting on yourself, twice, under the franchise tag is awfully risky if you have to hold the ball for longer than usual because you lost your deep threat (Jackson) and your possession wr (Garcon) in the same offeseason (partly due to your insane salary demands), and are looking at mid range double teams for Reed - while he's healthy - and Crowder.

Hats off to you, KC, if you think you'll stay as healthy with LESS weapons.

That's just my opinion though.

You know Chill, that's the puzzling thing to me too. We know that the team offered 16 million and we also know that he eventually played on the tag for 19 million and change, making a difference of 3-4 million between them on a LTD. It seems to me that, like any negotiation, the deal had to be somewhere in the middle, a d that's likely where I made my mistake. It is altogether possible that one side or both took a hard stance, or that Kirk and his reps asked for something exceeding this range.

If we are allowed to extrapolate based on what we know for sure, and that is SM's public statement about the team's unwillingness to overpay, and then ultimately paying that 19million and change. It is not beyond reasonable to get from that, a demand beyond the near 20 million that they did pay. From that I think it unwise that any of us or for those who already have, be so quick at blaming the team for not getting the deal done.
