Ja'Quan McMillian is becoming my favorite player on D. He makes big plays. Some guys have a knack for it.

My only issue with his game is he does get a bit grabby at times and has hurt the team with a few penalties. I guess that is part of the package with a guy that is as aggressive as him.

I tried to look up the penalty stats on Ja'Quan McMillian and what I found was he hasn't had a penalty called on him in a regular season game in his career.

He has 5 penalties so far this season.

Bolles and Surtain both have more though. I get with our secondary part of what makes them great is the aggressive style they play with. Playing so much man coverage and the team bringing pressure means these guys could make one mistake and it lead to a TD. So yes it leads to some more grabbing.

My main issue with McMillian compared to Surtain is a lot of his are panic grabs when he doesn't need to panic. He is usually in great position but it seems when he loses a step his initial reaction is to grab.

The downfall of playing in a raging amount of man coverage. Your DB's are going to have more penalties and it is also going to open up your QB for a lot more opportunities to run with the DB's back to the QB when the pocket collapses.

McMillian is one of the best slot CB's in the NFL... Yes, he has some penalties but he is a heck of a playmaker too. We saw more of his playmaking ability so far last year but we have seen it here in recent weeks with creating turnovers and his ability to blitz. He and Locke are great blitzers btw.

I think the top two NFL blitzing CB's are probably Devon Witherspoon and Alontae Taylor but McMillian is up there.

Oh I am very happy with how the entire secondary has played this year. Just a few of the penalties have been ones obviously not necessary where they panic thinking they messed something up when in reality they are still in good position and grab. But if that is what we have to live with for what we get in return I will take it every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Vance has this defense playing lights out for the most part. I cant believe how great he has this unit playing, and how young they are. I was overly critical of him last year, and rightfully so up until week 4, then something clicked. I find it a luxury now when I expect the defense to be perfect on every play. This an elite defensive unit and Vance should get a lot of credit.

Vance was not using his/wade's scream . He was using a hybrid of what we used the year before . It is now Wade Phillips/his now

That is sorta the DB position for you though.

Shocker Randy Gregory retirement doesn't appear to be for long. Worked out for the Seahawks today. Gregoy is such a weirdo after ghosting the Buccaneers all training camp.
