Yeah I can definitely see how they make some nice money. The first one that I signed up for (ended up getting some free money to try it out which is why I am doing it) is one where you pay $10 in and those who finish in the top half end up getting $18 back. So the house makes $2 on half the people who sign up which would be about $2500 just from that one game alone. I like my chances though of getting my money back plus a little extra. The other one I did was another $10 with the winner getting some major money. I figure take a chance and just see if I can get lucky. Like I said ended up finding a deal where they let you try it for free for a couple of games as they hope to get you hooked. Figure if I don't win either of those then just pull out and hey didn't lose any money.

Let's face it - if the guys shown on Fan Duel adds looked smart - it would miss connecting with the sweet spot of the marketing base - these guys will go on to act in Dopey Dad commercials about household items.
