There is a serious lack of speed on the corner if your CB is outran by a QB. This has the makings of a long season for the Bengals Defense.

The ONLY somewhat bright spot of today was Leonard. A couple nice runs though he was running through huge holes, and a beautiful block against the blitz.

Haven't had a chance to see the game yet, but looking at the stats it looks like we are having some typical issues..... Sooner or later this team needs to get touchdowns - Not field goals. Giving up big yards to Green Bay is going to happen..... But you have to score on them.

We can't compete with the best offensive team in the whole league? who knew?

as this is preseason and doesn't matter, failure would be that we didn't hurt Benson. guys should have been laying a hurt on him every down.

Why do you guys hate Benson? He's a good back, its wasn't his fault that every time he got the ball a defender was in his face. If you want to hate someone hate Nate Livings.... the WORST guard in the NFL!

If your CB is outran by a QB, who isn't Mike Vick, you're in trouble!

Oh...you mean that stuff some of us have been saying since the end of last season??

The defense last year was a paper dragon and a joke that played against bad teams. Our D is in SERIOUS trouble this year.

He was just wasn't a very likable guy. He spent his offseason beating up boyfriends and his season complaining about carries. He always appeared to be in excellent shape and he had some big moments for the Bengals, but he just seemed like a douchebag.

All that said, I don't think our running game will improve at all with a new back. We still suck at blocking for the run. Hopefully our young guards come around quickly.

I agree. Look at the quarterbacks we played last season. Zimmer can stop bad quarterbacks with anyone one on the D, but good quarterbacks will kill us. This year we face Ben (x2), Eli, Peyton, Rivers, and Vick. We also face Palmer and the best qb in the league (Flacco). Oh, and hopefully RGIII isn't as good as advertised.

I DID hate Livings the last couple of years....now he's in Dallas where I can love him again....

2 things that stood out to me....

1. The replacement refs are beyond bad
2. The Bengals have the oldest, ugliest cheer leaders I've ever seen.

Why the fuck does the NFL network insist on showing the final score and the stats of the game your trying to watch?

He seemed to be going 50% speed, probably because its preseason and he's already guaranteed a job and hitting Rodgers would probably open up a can of worms.

but yea, we're obviously in trouble, not much depth, injuries, talent level is poor.

The schedule actually offers them an early break. After a tough opener at the ratbirds, four of the next five games are vs rookie quarterbacks in the very early stage of development, with the other vs Blaine Gabbert, who surely didn't show much last year. Of course after that it gets much tougher, but it does give them a little time to get it together.

TJ Yates torched us in the playoffs last year. I wouldn't bank on our D against even a rookie QB

Point taken but at least he had a good team around him, unlike Gabbert, Weeden, Tannehill, and probably RGIII.....

Lol! So I found this article on B/R titled, "Packers vs. Bengals: 10 Things We Learned from Cincinnati's 27-13 Loss" and whats the 1st item listed? Yeah, its going to be a long year.

"Cornerbacks Lack Speed"

It seems an obvious point to pick out, but the lack of speed in the Bengals cornerback ranks was made painfully apparent on Thursday night.

On two occasions, Aaron Rodgers outpaced the Bengals corners to waltz into the end zone for a touchdown.

Rodgers is athletic, but he's no Mike Vick. The fact that the Packers' QB can outpace Nate Clements without breaking a sweat is certainly a concern.

The Bengals front office have placed a larger emphasis on veteran consistency than they have on speed, and this was the first time we saw the dangers of that strategy.

Adam Jones is perhaps the purest athlete among the Bengals corners, but lacks consistency in technique.

The slower, older players may not have the speed desired, but they have the smarts.

Given the personnel on offer, the Bengals have their hands tied.
