The NHL decimated the four WHA teams joining the NHL but especially the AVCO Cup champion Jets who lost Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson to the Rangers and Terry Ruskowski to the Blackhawks. I guess it also allowed them to draft Dale Hawerchuk though so it wasn't all bad.
