Only two Canadian based teams will be in the playoffs. Not that it will hurt ratings because Canadians will watch hockey anyway but I know CBC always makes it a point to talk about covering the Canadian teams as a priority and they should.

Wouldn't it be something if the Canucks and Habs went to the finals? I can see the Canucks making it but doubt the Habs will but you never know.

Sorry to all of my Canadian brothers.:canada:

Actually it likely will hurt the ratings. There's enough fans that will watch anyway to ensure they still get pretty decent ratings. But there are a lot of casual/bandwagon hockey fans (mostly but not exclusively females) who would be far more likely to watch if there are Canadian teams involved.

Even when my team is out of the playoffs I watch every game I can. whether it be an US team against a canadian team or 2 US teams or 2 canadian teams. Its the greatest hockey of the year. its no doubt that there would be more if say Toronto was in there.

no need to say sorry for anything. We will still have very strong numbers watching. ESPECIALLY if the Canucks and Habs make a splash

Canadians love hockey and hockey on tv, regardless of the teams. Would Canadian teams making a deep playoff run help Canadian tv ratings!?! No doubt, but that would be offset by a drop off in US tv ratings. Hockey on CBC and TSN is just a license to print money, and if a Canadian team is involved, a little more money is printed.

At least the Canucks are in as well as the Habs so Cherry doesn't have to pretend that he likes the Habs.

Cherry's actually pretty good at pretending to like the canucks ... he's a big fan of Lagongo too

Considering one of the two teams from here that made it in won the President's Trophy and looks to be a strong favourite to win it all, I think most casuals here would take that.

That being said, it really doesn't matter. Playoff hockey is the best theater in all of sport and those of us who love the game will watch regardless. Besides, most of the players on these teams are Canadians anyway ;)

Maybe now that the Sabres are in we can help by being an honorary almost Canadian representative. There are a lot of Sabres fans in southern Ontario.
