I think my disappointment with this season has been misconstrued as it being the end of the world.

I have said 9 - 3 is not good enough in my opinion to say it was a good season. I have said our team is inconsistent and being undisciplined is the reason we have this inconsistency in my opinion. I have said it is my opinion we will not achieve the next level until that is resolved.

I have never said I think it is the end of the world or we will never take care of these problems.

I have said we did not achieve what we are capable of this season or last. I have said I believe a lack of discipline to be the cause of this. I have said the inconsistency and lack of discipline is a trend that concerns me. I have refused to accept that we should be comparing ourselves with other teams that have accepted the fact that they are not going to be a contender.

But I have never said this is the end of the world and anyone who interprets what I have said as this has placed words in my mouth that were never there or in my mind.

I am simply willing to admit we have problems and it may get worse (8-4 prediction for next year) before it gets better.

Well either way the intent of the OP was to find a few bright spots, not to continue with the same ol' sand in the vagina disappointment over a 9-4 season.

I'm happy NU beat Washington.
I'm happy NU beat Ohio St.
I'm happy NU beat Michigan St.
I'm happy NU beat Penn St.
I'm happy NU beat Iowa.

my disappointment from this season comes from the way in which the losses happened. even the blowing out didn't upset me that much. what upset me so much was that in the losses (save tOSU) one we got down by a touchdown or 10 points or so, we gave up....rex and vonte were the only ones who would fight for the whole game. im okay with the blowout if they show that they care a little bit, but no one did that. again i think that comes down to leadership.

meh..I'm 49 y/o and I've been down this road a few times (68-69), (mid 70's), (early 80's) (early 90's). Nebraska's had to reinvent itself before to get to the next level and came through for some nice runs.

I don't expect National or even Conference Championships next season either. I do figure them to be in contention for the Division come early November tho.

This ain't the Big XII North.

So yes, I'm thankful NU is not that bad I guess.

No they didn't accept it then, nor are they accepting it now. As you implied it's louder now because of the interwebs.

It's a matter of showing some understanding that it's not the end of the world and looking at the big picture. T.O. retiring, Solich getting fired, Pederson, Callahan, and Cosgrove destroying the program, trying to get back to being the physical team that was NU, assistant coaching changes, new conference.

The other BiG 10 teams have piles of game film on each other and only had to get used to one newcomer, NU had to get used to 8. So these young men let a couple games get away from them in frustration. You know how you feel when you're physically exausted and things aren't going your way? They rebounded from the Wisky loss and won 3 straight. They rebounded from the 3 point NW loss and won 2 out of 3. They didn't collapse. It really could have been worse.

1990 - 1991 season

Colorado 12 - 27 (L)
Oklahoma 10 - 45 (L)
Ga Tech 21 - 45 (L)

This was the end of the fucking world I tell ya.

1977 - 1978 season

Washington St 10 - 19 (L)
Iowa St 21 - 24 (L)
Oklahoma 7 - 38 (L)

:lm:

1968-1969 season

Kansas 13 - 23 (L)
Misssouri 14 - 16 (L)
Kansas St 0 - 12 (L)
Oklahoma 0 - 47 (L)

:lm:

Reps RA...

Realism - blind emotion = sanity (in the bigger picture of life)

Buncha negative Nancy's. Please try to not off yourself between now and September. Like the Cubs fan always says: "There's always next year" Eternal Optimism.

Back to the OP. I'm happy that Maher came in and minus the mistakes in the Bowl Game had pretty much as good of a season as anybody hoped if not better in trying to replace Henery.

I'm happy with the young talent at RB and think they should be in good shape at that position post Rex Burkhead era.

I'm happy that Will Compton is starting to live up to the expectations he had when recruited. He does have one of the best football names ever and I hope he becomes a star next season.

I'm happy that Dennard punched that guy in the face.

That is all for now. Gotta get back to work

Loved this ^^^^ even if it was not the smartest thing to do and we could have used him on the field for the rest of the game...

I was happy that we beat Mechicken State. By three TDs. That Lavonte made 2nd team AP All American. That walk-on Choi came through for us. That we mounted the greatest comeback in Husker history to beat tOSU. That Ameer Abdullah is the most electrifying return man since Johnny the Jet. That Brett Maher picked up where Alex Henery left off. That Rex Burkhead is superman. And for what I'm told is a very large penis. That’s what I’m happy about.

After watching LSU not show up at all last night - & my son-in-law is a big LSU fan - I'm glad we got half a game outta the Huskers in our bowl. SIL even said the Huskers made more proud than the Tigers. Take it for what it's worth...
