These are the teams we are now relegated to being compared to?

My mistake I thought the goal was to return to relevance.

hmmm

I read it as to be thankful NU is not them.

Or the countless 4-8's, 5-7's, 6-6's, 7-5's or 8-4's

At 9-3, NU was pretty much where I expected them to be in the transition. The O-line needs to get stronger, the D-line and linebackers need to bulk up for BiG play.

NU was getting beat in the trenches. I'm sure the staff knows this.

Contending for the Division Title = Relevence

NU gave the team that won the Division it's only regular season Conference loss. That team also beat Georgia in it's bowl game.

When you're getting beat in the trenches, you're bound to make a lot of mistakes. Funny how when NU rolls a team it's because NU is great as opposed to the other team playing sloppy (because they are getting beat upfront).

My point is do we really want to be thankful we are not that bad? The comparison and the fail comes in contemplating that that we could even be that bad.
That seems to me like an acceptance of mediocrity which I will not do.

Honestly I am not that upset or surprised by this year. I can not and will not say I am happy with this season or even grateful that it wasn't worse though.

9-3 is okay if there is growth. That is the problem with the process though. It is stuck in neutral. There is a problem that has existed in this program since year one of Pelini's era and if anything it is getting worse as his recruits rise. It is not that there is not talent on this team. We can see it intermittently and I believe I posted a reply last year to the same effect.

But there is no consistancy, no discipline. The problem may be no leaders on the field, it may be a reflection of the head coach. I don't know. However I can see the problem and since I am not getting paid a penny to take care of the problem it is not responsibility to resolve the problem.

But I should also not be expected to accept the problem. If we are now relegated to the level of being grateful not to be Indiana or Purdue I am through. I will not allow myself to sink to that level.

meh..I'm 49 y/o and I've been down this road a few times (68-69), (mid 70's), (early 80's) (early 90's). Nebraska's had to reinvent itself before to get to the next level and came through for some nice runs.

I don't expect National or even Conference Championships next season either. I do figure them to be in contention for the Division come early November tho.

This ain't the Big XII North.

So yes, I'm thankful NU is not that bad I guess.

We did beat Michigan State but we did not contend for the division title. When we lost to Northwestern we gave up our edge. When we lost to Michigan we gave up any control of our destiny. We relied on other teams to allow us to be in contention which they did not.

I'm 51 and seen it also and perhaps the interwebz is responsible for the difference but I have never seen Husker fans accept it as their lot in life before.

No they didn't accept it then, nor are they accepting it now. As you implied it's louder now because of the interwebs.

It's a matter of showing some understanding that it's not the end of the world and looking at the big picture. T.O. retiring, Solich getting fired, Pederson, Callahan, and Cosgrove destroying the program, trying to get back to being the physical team that was NU, assistant coaching changes, new conference.

The other BiG 10 teams have piles of game film on each other and only had to get used to one newcomer, NU had to get used to 8. So these young men let a couple games get away from them in frustration. You know how you feel when you're physically exausted and things aren't going your way? They rebounded from the Wisky loss and won 3 straight. They rebounded from the 3 point NW loss and won 2 out of 3. They didn't collapse. It really could have been worse.
