The Redskins are gonna be very active in free agency but they will not pay ridiculous amounts of money for players like in the past

Four Things That Would Concern Me the Cerrato-type Days are Back | Fanspeak Washington Redskins Blog

all of these would signal the old ways are back and failure is certain again

we need to really watch this :yahoo:

Again, I advocate what the Chiefs did. Sign 5 to 6 mid-tier free agents to fill in the holes. They need to be young, healthy and have reasonable contracts. Of course, most idiots on here want us to sign 3 over-priced free agents and give them all the money.

Raji turned down an offer for $8 million by the Packers so if you want him you are going to have to at least match that but more than likely give him closer to $10 million. Verner will be the top rated corner this year and will most likely seek a deal in the $8-10 million range considering he finished top 3 in CB rating this past season plus is just entering his prime. Not sure what Spikes wants though. But anyway you are looking at close to $25 million just between those 3 players to get them signed.

Raji may get around 8 mil/season. He won't get more.

Verner won't get 8 to 10 million. Nobody did last season at CB. Talib is considered better than Verner.

Spikes is coming off injury and isn't good in coverage. He will get a contract comparable to Riley.

Well Raji seems to think he will. I couldn't believe Green Bay even offered him that much to begin with as I don't see the production to warrant that kind of money. That would put him in like the top 3 or so DT's for money if I remember right.

Verner doesn't have the red flags or injury history of Talib. Heck Talib played 200 less snaps than Verner and it was the most he had since his 2nd year in the NFL so again injury concerns and red flags will drive his price down some. So my guess is they will get similar contracts but Verner will get more as he is the safer bet. The Cornerback class of last season was full of guys with red flags so most had to sign prove it deals keeping their value low. Many of them proved to be worth it so they should get a nice bump in pay.

Spikes like I said I have no clue on his contract yet. You are right he is coming off injury so that will drive down his cost some but a 3-4 defense will love his run stopping ability and be willing to pay to get that 2-down thumper. I'm guessing somewhere in the $4-5 million range.

I see the ILB position evolving. I don't see run downs any more. They don't really exist. Honestly, a real run down these days is 3rd and 20. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 4 mil/season but I don't know if he is worth it.

I don't like Talib. He got torched badly by Josh Gordon. I just think non-QB contracts are going down. If you aren't the QB, the WR, or the guy that hits the QB...I don't think you will see contracts decreasing for those guys.

Well....last year alot of guys thought they were getting big money and didnt....I wouldnt be suprised if raji takes less the 8 mil this year ...if it is like it was last year, I bet he does......I would love to have Raji at the NT position.....With Cofield moving to DT, would be very good for the Skins.

We shall see. There seems to be a lot more cap space this year compared to last year for teams. When you have teams like Oakland with $70 million in cap space you are going to have some players getting overpaid. Now whether Raji is one of those guys or not we shall see. My guess is the open market won't be as kind as he is hoping but then again some teams might look at his production those 1st couple of years and think maybe they can get that out of him again. I could also see him playing on a prove it 1-year contract hoping to show case his skills.

Verner is the one though that I do expect will get a huge contract of the list that was given. The guy is about as consistent as it comes at the Cornerback position and with the NFL being such a passing league getting that type of player entering his prime some team will pay to have his services.

Well #1 on the list the Redskins can unfortunately check off now (Hall 4yr 5million per season). Really not a horrible deal and lets hope Hall can continue last years good playing.

1. Signing Deangelo Hall to another crazy deal like Vinny Cerrato did the past and doing it way too premature.
If in the next few weeks before free agency even starts if Bruce Allen locks up Hall to some 5 or 6 year deal for crazy guaranteed money I will be concerned where this is going. I was impressed with Hall's play last season, but was far from his talent in seasons past. The team does need help in the secondary for sure, but there will be plenty of options so jumping the gun on Hall makes me nervous.
Let it play out like last year did with Hall. If they end up losing him it’s not the worst thing in the world. I don't think they owe him for playing last season on a cheap one year deal either.

I'd love to land Raji and Verner 7-8mil
True NT, RE big and athletic enough to drive back two blockers or take on blocker make a tackle on RB.

Verner is likely ready to leave TEN, and Spikes was making like 800k, we should be able to get for 3.5yr max
