2015 NFL Mock Draft: Predicting the Ideal 1st-Round Pick for Every Team | Bleacher Report

This site has us taking Beasley. According to them, get ready for him to be bowled over on running plays, but don't worry, we will only use him on passing downs in the first year(oh that makes it alright then!).

There is some question of whether Beasley has the size (Clemson listed him at 6'3", 235 lbs) and strength to be a consistently effective run defender on the edge, but he would probably be used mostly as a pass-rusher in his rookie season anyway, rotating in with Ryan Kerrigan and Trent Murphy. If Beasley can continue to bulk up without sacrificing athleticism—something he showed he could do at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine—he should continue to improve in that area.

While here again, the Giants get the future STAR at guard. (Guard?? why would anyone need one of those????)

A three-year starter at offensive tackle for the Hawkeyes, Scherff was a unanimous All-American and the Outland Trophy winner last season. An athletic, strong and technically sound lineman, he is more than capable of stepping in and playing tackle for an NFL unit if necessary.

In New York, however, Scherff would likely move to guard, where the Giants should be in the market for a new starter and where he is most likely to emerge as a star in the NFL.

While Scherff lacks prototypical length for the offensive tackle position, his ability to generate power and forward explosiveness suit him excellently for a move to the interior offensive line. As Bleacher Report contributor Dan Pompei noted in a recent tweet, scouts compare Scherff to Zack Martin, who earned first-team AP All-Pro honors as a rookie after moving from tackle to guard for the Dallas Cowboys last season.

so the "experts " feel our best pick is a 3rd down pass rusher while we pass on a star OG in the NFL ? sounds like half the board

The draft cannot come soon enough. We desperately need new material to chew on.

The "Experts" say it is important to get the edge rusher to help get other teams off the field. Brilliant!
Hmmm, what about when we are on the field? How do we stay on the field? Oh, never mind, we have Chester, and Ribeye, and Moses, and....

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. Regarding that mock I believe that some way or another Winston, MM, Fowler and Williams will all be off the board. And that's why #5 is so interesting, that seems to be were the discussion begins.

Well I'll take Beasley over Scherff in a heartbeat. And spare me the sexy over substance crap. I think Beasley is a better player at a more valuable position, it's not about the sexy pick.

my issue with him and gregory are can they add and hold weight ? my experience says no

IM sorry, but when the talk is you should take a situational pass rusher, or a WR that for all intents will be at BEST 3rd on the depth chart over a starting o=Lineman that most expect to be very good for the next 7-10 years.... what else can you call it save for sexy over substance??

Picking the better player. Even if all Beasley can do well is rush the passer that doesn't mean he can't be on the field regularly and contributing regularly. Same goes for Cooper. Over a career I'd easily rather have an elite pass rusher or wide receiver than an elite guard.

And again I got to call BS on that bro. An Elite Guard will have a bigger effect on this entire team than another elite WR or a pass rush specialist. That Elite guard stands to chance to improve not only our passing game, but also our ground game..... over the course of his career. First the big hangup was.. well Scherff might not be worth a top ten pick. BUt as Pundits have come around, it has become well he might not be worth a top five pick and no way can you take a guard at #5. BUt its quite alright to take a 3rd down rush specialist or a WR who MIGHT factor in two years down the road all of a sudden because they are this massively superior football player??

You guys act as if we are talking passing over the next Jerry Rice or Reggie White for the likes of Chad Rinehardt or something.

Don't act like I think Scherff is crap and Cooper is Jerry Rice. I literally said if they're both elite Id rather have the WR or OLB. Marshal Yanda or Larry Warford or whoever your pick at OG is not worth more to a team than Jordy Nelson or Dez Bryant or Von Miller.

At worst hes a "pass rush specialist" for a year. There are plenty of pass rushers who cant defend the run well that are worth more than a guard. Funny that you think a pass rusher isnt worthy of the #5 pick but support a guard there.

Would you have drafted Orakpo at #5?? How about Dion Jordan?? YOu can deny what Fredericks and Martin have done for Dallas until you are blue in the face. But Dallas INVESTED in the o-line and it paid off HUGE. Romo AND Murray had their best years as Pro Players ever. And its not because they all of a sudden got better, its because Jones invested prime picks into his O-line. We brought in one of the better O-line coaches in the league, so whats wrong with giving him some prime picks to work with instead of throwing MORE resources at the defense or WR group and then in six months complaining how Moses is a broke dick, Chester should never have been on roster and Compton is a backup??

Eh, I'm not an expert basher. Nfl GMs are just as hit and miss. No one on this earth knows where players will go and if they will be successful in the nfl. As for the scherff talk, if scot thinks he's the bpa then I'm all for him.
