Jackets are facing a little bit of adversity after having two really solid months. They've played well enough to win but just didn't get it done in Vancouver and Calgary (even with the help of the world worst ref).

Hey Forty_three: Every time I've seen him (about a half dozen this year) Calvert looks dynamite. Is he playing well all the time or am I just catching him at right times?

He's pretty much been solid every game. I like his style of game. At least five of his goals have been from less than three feet from the goalie. He's just in the middle of it all the time.

Lots of speed and sense when he's not in the middle too. Can't think of a better linemate for Umberger. Would like to see Upshall on that line too. That would be hell to play against.

Sucks because I like the makeup of the team. Some bad luck with some injuries, sure, but they have good pieces in place all around. If they hadn't gotten off to that slow start...

There's gonna be two or three pretty good teams that miss the dance in the Western Conference...It's not looking great for the Jackets, they need to probably win 3 out of 4 down the stretch in addition to getting some help.

The Jackets need a REAL top pairing on D and probably one more "star" forward before they're contenders. They have a lot of nice players but their D corps is not good enough to compensate for underwhelming goaltending, IMO.

Not totally dead yet, but it doesn't look good.

If everyone was healthy, they'd be pretty solid. I am actually impressed with Rivet although I doubt he stays around. I didn't think he had the physicality in him. The D, while not household names, is a pretty formidiable group. Would I like to see a more physical vet (Ala Phillips)? Absolutely. But the kids are good, Tyutin and Hejda seem to remember they are hockey players lately and this Lepisto guy is solid.

The forward corp could be pretty awesome too. Think about it, when all there:
Nash - Brassard - Huselius
Dorsett - Vermette - Voracek
Upshall - Umberger - Calvert
Moreau - Pahlsson - Clark

And they react positively when mixed up. Nash - Vermette - Umberger is one combo they seem to go to often.

In the wait list: Murray / Boll / MacKenzie / Wilson

But the fact remains, they are in the West. In the Central. And anything less than 95 points doesn't get it done.
