I think my hatred for the Cowboys was actually cemented during the late 90s when they were on the downhill side of their run. After another unjustified nationally televised prime time airing, the host network segued to a postgame Shania Twain concert at Texas Stadium.
It wasn't a Canadian singing country music in a Southern accent that turned my stomach. Her supermodel looks were always enough to cancel that out. It was that she walked onto the stage in a Cowboys jersey. Which she quickly took off so we could admire her in a skimpier silver outfit. Something about that paid association with her and the Cowboys just went too far for me.
Anyway, this Youtuber made a great video about the truly excessive craziness of the Cowboys back when they were actually a good team:
