Okay, so I wasn't the only one going, "Okay, what in the HELL was that?"...

And I get that Tara is supposed to be a bit light-hearted, but I think they really take it too far and make a mockery of the situation...

So anyway, Tara's back... Whatever.... We don't know where Heath is, but do we really care? .... The only thing I see coming of this is (obviously) another allied in some upcoming war, and the fact that Oceanside has plenty of guns... All assuming Tara eventually gives them up, which I also don't care...

Best part of the episode was Tara flipping off the little girl that spit at her feet...

maybe the next time we see Oceanside on the tv show is a couple years from now and heath has fathered dozens if not hundreds of kids :noidea:

I don't mind this season so far but I know a lot of people are hating it. Last night might have been the biggest mistake yet. An entire episode focusing on Tara? I don't mind the group spreading out and having several different story lines going on simultaneously at all, but I think they should cut back on episodes devoted to one particular story, which is basically all they've been doing this whole season so far. I think they should maybe do it a bit more Game of Thrones style where they bounce around between characters and locations. That way a little bit of Tara over a few episodes to help build towards an eventual payoff wouldn't seem as painful as an entire episode.

Not sure if it's true or not but I heard the actors on the Walking Dead get paid per episode in which they appear, and that is a big reason why they've been using this format.

This "bottle episode" format they have been using the last 2 seasons or so is really frustrating. There is no flow to the show anymore. Just as you get into the flow of a particular story arc, boom, you don't see it again for 3 or 4 weeks. Also, they tend to drop cliffhangers (I am still really upset about the RV cliffhanger from last season).

The show is just lazy. Sure, there are payoffs (this seasons premiere was legit), but the whole never matches the sum of the parts (while there have been very good episodes in seasons 4 on, none of the seasons have had a "I HAVE to binge this show again" feel). I could binge seasons 1, 2 and the first half of S3 on an endless loop. Pretty much everything since is watch-once quality.

Hey guys, let's end one episode with a really cool scene with Jesus and Carl in the back of a truck heading to Negan's house. Then the next episode will be an all Tera episode, you know, the overweight actor who's character everyone's already forgotten about? Let's have her run and jump her fat ass all over the forest and dodge bullets like fucking Bruce Lee!

Awesome idea, that will really stick it to those fucking fans.

It's been 9 freaking weeks since Tara was even in an episode. So let's devote an entire episode to her, and make it campy af.

Might've been the worst episode of the whole series.

Were they ever called "Oceanside" in the books? There are certainly similarities, but some big differences as well. I am not certain this is the same community as the books.

Hardwick called it Oceanside, and the camera focused on that poster with the word "oceanside" on it that was hanging over Tara when she was cuffed to the radiator. Pretty clear that was it to me. They are introducing and rallying the different communities pre-all out war.....they are just doing a shitty job of it.

How would she still be so fat in the Z-apocalypse? (yes, I know she was recently preggers in real life).

Totally agree. I like how we are getting introduced to all these new communities but they're going about it all wrong. Back in season 5 or 4 whatever when they did this, when the group split into like 5 sub-groups when escaping from the prison, that was probably my least favorite part of the show. And even then, episodes would be mostly dedicated to a certain group but at least we would hear from the other ever once in a while. This is just tough to watch.

Obviously, it's all going to come together in the mid-season finale because that's the formula they run. Then after the mid-season premiere it will go back to this formula until the season finale.

I'm getting to the point where I'm more inclined to watch this in half-season bunches.

Yup. IF this is the same group as the books, I a man glad they are getting introduced earlier than they were in the books. I always thought their intro in the books was a bit out of sorts. But making them Amazons is just weird. And not focusing on their sea-faring ways is also odd. And having a Tara-centric episode without Heath is just bad planning.

I understand that Hawkins is busy with 24, but come on. This is one episode...

I know. Maybe they should have waited until she got back into shape before they had her going Rambo. This isn't about fat women being unattractive, this is about a fat woman in the apocalypse. The entirety of "Oceanside" looked anorexic and this fat bitch comes waltzing in like she owns the place. No wonder they wanted to murder her.

This. Ain't no PC debate here. It is about the ridiculousness of the situation. She washes up on shore, takes a couple swigs of water, then suddenly (and silently, mind you!) she is tracking her prey like Shanna the freakin' She-Devil.

Man, you can only suspend disbelief so far.

That Cindy chick is pretty cute, tho.

If I was ol' One-Eye, I'd be keepin' my other eye out for her. ;)
