I agree that this was one of the weaker episodes of the show to date, but it was a good character episode, and the show needs episodes like this to make us care more when big events happen.

This was not about "how he learned to use a stick". This was about how he returned to humanity. This explains why, even during the Wolf-attack, he refuses to kill people. This will lead to Morgan's inner struggle with making his personal philosophy work in the post-ZA world.

I am not sure it needed to be 90 mins, though. I think the emotions they were after could have been achieved in a regular episode.

If the episode was not in the middle of a whole lot of things happening I may have liked it more.

Yeah, I understand the disappointment there.

I think in retrospect this episode will be appreciated more. It was the perfect interlude.

Pardon the cooking reference, but all the ingredients are simmering and coming to a boil...

If the episode was not in the middle of a whole lot of things happening I may have liked it more. It was certainly well acted. I just do not think Morgan is a strong enough character to have an entire show devoted to him, much less a long episode. Honestly I do not think character development is a strong suit of the show show so I do not really think any of the shows characters should have a show solely dealing with them.

Eastman was more interesting than Morgan and knowing that he was going to die didn't help the episode.

Exactly. If we could have got this episode as the first episode of this season, it would have made much more sense, being as we haven't seen much of Morgan since season 3, and he just reappeared to the rest of the group at the end of season 5.

For me, worst episode in the shows history...

Agreed.

I realize that maybe they are trying to lull everyone back down, after the Glenn "death", but that episode was pretty slow, and tho I like the Eastman guy as an actor, I'm not sure I believe he's a zen-master karate expert.

Not deserving of 90 minutes.

Just seemed like a bit of a "fuck you" to the fans too.

"What, Glenn may have died in the dumbest way possible last week? Here's 90 minutes of Morgan.

Haha, this cracked me up and I really can't argue with ya. I just thought it was a great story.

Physically, I don't think we were supposed to view him as any kind of "master". He was simply an apprentice who lived the philosophy of Aikido. Remember, Morgan was able to get the upper hand relatively quickly, and Eastman was bitten in a situation that a "master" would have been able avoid.

Eastman was more of a tree-hugger philosopher than a bad-ass-mother-fucker.

I think it will be fun to see Morgan deal with his pet Wolf moving forward. Will Mirgan realize that "true evil" exists in this new world? Creighton Dallas Howard will end up being a key piece to Morgan becoming more centered, I think. I also expect Morgan and Paul to have a very interesting relationship.

It's interesting, because Morgan was so beloved when he was not actually in the show. Then he shows up and is annoying af. Made it hard to gaf about his backstory.

I did not need to know this, let alone waste an entire 90 minutes on back story when its right at an interesting point in the current story. Big FU this time around. Dont know how many episodes are left if this is another half season, they were advertising a new show coming in a few weeks.

Could be. Sounds like it's Morgan's night tonight.

I was half-expecting a relatively quick flashback, surprised there was a full 90-minute episode on it lol. Guess I tapped into my inner CarlSr.

I enjoyed the episode but as I've said before, I appreciate good writing more than anything so I had a lot of fun with last night's episode. Sure, we haven't found out what happened to Glen yet but I can wait a week. :noidea:

And yeah, Eastman wasn't an expert karate master or anything, Morgan had 10x the fighting experience and by the time he learned the forms he was already better than Eastman. The only thing I felt was a little off was the part where Eastman is bit, it just didn't look very real, they should have probably reshot it a couple of times to make it look like Eastman had no choice but to be bit but it isn't a huge deal. I love John Carroll Lynch, I grew up watching some of his stuff, wasn't he Mimi's gay boyfriend on the Drew Carey Show? Lol. The guy is a legend. I loved this episode and it helped me understand how Morgan has come this far.

I was thrilled when I saw his name in the credits. I am a "big fan" of his as well. He was awesome in Drew Carey. And actually quite creepy in Freak Show...

And now for my own brief interlude: this is a great read. Pretty cool to see that Sofia and T-Dog (along with Mika and Lizzie) are enjoying some notoriety at conventions. Even cooler (and brilliant casting): Shane as The Punisher.

Only thing I'm dissappointrd about is the pet wolve was bit so he's gonna die soon. I think he's really intriguing and seeing him and Morgan keep interacting would be great.
