wow, Rosita in the pinup mode during talking dead

Did I miss the scene with Darrel walking out of the woods with Noah or did that just not play at all?

A few notes...

1) Sasha turning her back on "Bob" was stupid. Played out the same as Carol going through the chained door last week. Poorly written, poorly executed scene.

2) I thought Maggie drawing on Abe made sense. This scene takes place minutes/hours after he went psycho on Eugene, so he is not to be trusted at this moment.

3) I don't trust Dawn with giving Beth the key. She is setting Beth up, somehow. Don't know how, yet.

4) there is something going on with Abe's hand. They have been focusing on it a LOT this season. Could he lose it?

5) Eugene certainly sounded like a walker when he woke up. But they did show Maggie actually see him, didn't they? I will not be happy if they walker-ize him at this point.

6) No indication that the Abe crew is heading back to the church just yet. But I think that is still where they are going.

7) Gabriel is a weasel. I hope they handle him better than they did in the comics. He has the potential to be such a pain in the ass for a long time to come. Very un-likable character, though. Not sure it would be good for ratings to have him go that route.

8) In the sneak-peak, Gabriel found the Termites camp where they ate Bobs leg. He again lost his shit. This is I want the character to go, but like I said, I am not sure how you can have this character last on the show. There is at least one more scene that they NEED him for, though, before they can kill him. I expect him to survive at least the season.

9) About the pacing on the show right now. The comics got a bit lost at this point as well. The show, I think, has improved on the story here. However, the show will never be like it was in S1-S3. Those dealt with survivors essentially just coming to terms with the new world, and the dead acting as the primary threat. A few years in, they HAVE to change the focus. Survivors know how to deal with walkers, and the bulk of walkers are becoming easier to deal with due to decomp. If the show does not adjust in this way, it would be dull and repetitive.

1) Absolutely agree. Easily the worst moment of the episode and a horribly written scene. I blame Gimple, but I pretty much blame him for everything that goes wrong. ;)

2) Loved it. In contrast, I thought it was the best moment of the episode.

3) Yeah. Can't figure it out either, but something's wrong there.

4) Excellent guess. Makes perfect sense, and I think you are right. They really can't do it to Rick.

5) Huh. Interesting. That didn't occur to me, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Eugene's character has good storyline potential and writing him off as a walker might be a bit short-sighted. Shock value is not always the best way to go.

That's as far as I got on your points but this is a really insightful post. I will add that I can't stand Gabriel either.

One "shock value" possibility that occurred to me: Rosita's "I'm in". First thing I thought was: "Aw, shit. They're gonna kill her".

Don't be messin' with my next wife!

One other thing: If the unthinkable does happen to my little Chiquita, I have decided that Maggie is next in line to be my future bride.

Killer line of the show:

"Sit down or I'll put you down"

I would disagree but it certainly has had a change of pace.

In the begining the biggest threat was the walkers. Over time the walkers have become less in numbers and often seem weaker or incapacitated (like they were in this episode, either stuck under a pole, or melted into the pavement), and the other people have often been as big of or bigger threat.

Now it is pretty clear cut. The remaining people, both the "good" and the "bad" are all survivours who have been dealing with and killing walkers for several years now. They are all most certainly bigger threats to each other than the walkers are.

Remember, Atlanta was Napalmed. I would guess this is the reason most of em', currently seem weakened.

The problem is that the characters in the show have survived long odds and beaten death. They should be street smart, evasive and hardcore. Instead the show is pandering to the audience and using terrible b movie 'dont go in there' tropes with their main characters. The scene with Sasha was written by a mental midget.

Eugene is definitely not dead. That would be the most anti climatic death in history finding out 3 episodes later?

Sasha is definitely an idiot but I guess the good part of that is it lessened Ricks teams advantage a little bit.

Just increases the odds that Rick will be forced into psycho Rick mode instead of civil trader!!

I think you are being harsh, but your foundation is solid.

Gimple has been using quite a few cheap tactics in his reign as show-runner. He uses episode-to-episode cliffhangers and, as you described, "dont go in there" memes.

Go back and watch last week's episode again. When Carol first goes through the chained door, she carefully looks through to confirm it is clear, then she goes back and forth to move the supplies.

The second time, she never looks to make sure it is clear, then goes to painstaking measures to make sure she NEVER looks. she just hands over the weapons bind, and then crawls through, never looking.

In this episode, Sasha trusts the prisoner enough to allow herself to get alone with him in an unsecure position and then lets him get behind her.

Add to that the CLEAR character-plot-hole regarding Maggie and Beth.

Amateur writing.

I love this show. But if they continue to have these holes, I will not rank it as the run-away #1 in my book any longer.

The ends do not justify the means. Just because you get to a point in the story that you would like to be at does not mean that crappy writing to get there works.

The problem with Gabriel is he's a preacher so he's struggling with the idea of kill or be killed that the group goes by.

He is also dealing with the fact that 2 years ago, when the chips were down, he abandoned his "preacher-ness" and allowed his entire flock to die so that he could survive.

Dude is messed up in the head. He is not going to be well adjusted. A good writing team can do a LOT with him over the next few seasons. Right now, I do not have faith that Gimple has the talent to do that.

I feel like a lot of the problems with the writing could be cleaned up easily. We have Carol getting hit by a car and surviving an unlikely fall from a van in the same episode. They could have just had her get critically hurt from the van accident after getting isolated from Daryl because Noah disarmed them and there was a horde of zombies. Instead, you have 2 unlikely things happen.

I get the part where a new 'Bob' tricks Sasha but there are better ways to do that than to knock her out in one blow. You have weapons as a background called endless zombies. Use them creatively.

I pretty much agree with all the criticisms of the writing lately, and have long considered Gimple to be a blowhard riding on Kirkman's (and Darabont's, to a lesser extent) coattails.

That said, I do think some things have been done quite well. I could've followed the Eugene/Abe/Maggie/Glenn/Tara/Rosita storyline for the entire hour. Really good stuff there.

Well 50% of that crew is great to look at, so they start at an instant advantage

Yeah, I've decided that Tara isn't too shabby either. Zombie apocalypse life wouldn't be bad with those three, they have interesting skills. Rosita could show me how to make a water filter, Tara could show me how to master a yo-yo, and if I'm bad, Maggie could blow my brains out.

It seems to me that there is still more to the preacher than what we are seeing.

I mean, what in the flying fuck was he doing there at the end? Why escape? Where was he headed?

After next weeks finale I'm not gonna bother with this series any longer... and I just don't give a crap what happens to the characters at this point. It's run it's course afaic. Meh...I can waste my time following a better show (and there are a few of those)...or at least one that doesn't have such silly "cult like" fandom regarding such a subject and storyline. A movie on that idea is one thing, but a TV series is another altogether...and it's gotten watered down and uninteresting a while ago.
Fuck it.

It is clear that he is not the brightest bulb in the box. All he knows is that this crew is not who he wants to hang his hat with. He figures "over there" is better than "here". I think it is that simple.

Remember, he believes that God will provide, so he sees no need in doing what needs to be done to protect himself.

I agree that that is where the writing is best right now. They are really dealing with the transition of Eugene from an "all about me" liar to a contributing member of the group. He saved them at the fire-house and he taught Rosita how to filter water. The water-filter line was a throw-away, but it was certainly planting the seed that he IS smart, and has a LOT to offer the group.
