Maybe the Oil will claim Drew McIntyre to replace Steve MacIntyre :)

Isn't Alex Sulzer still a serviceable NHL defenseman?

/Not to mention ordered in many a fine restaurant.

I know JM Liles is paid quite a bit, but he looked pretty good last night for the Leafs. Maybe Burkie puts a bug in Feaster's ear and the Flames put in a claim?

I think. I was surprised to see him hit the wire.

He was sort of an afterthought to the Hodgson/Kassian deal but proved to be very valuable to Buffalo at times last year.

was certainly more serviceable than Marc-Andre Gragnani coming back

No one is claiming Liles for close to 4 million bucks a year. Especially since he's still got 3 more years on his deal. What would really be great for the Leafs is if there were some kind of mechanism in the CBA that allowed them to get rid of a long term contract without any penalty. What's that you say? There's something exactly like that that's available? Well then, I guess that solves the problem, the Leafs can just... ohhh, wait a minute, it looks like the Leafs already used one of those so that they could free up enough money to sign the guy that plays checkers with Phil Kessel in blackface? I can hardly wait for Phil to sign somewhere else so that we're stuck with 5 years of "Tyler Bozak, 40 point blackface #1 center"!

Yeah, you're right Dragon, I overlooked the fact that he still has 3 years left on his contract. Yeesh, that's ugly.

It's pretty much exactly the type of mistake that those compliance buyouts were made to take care of. Of course it's getting criticized entirely as a Burke mistake cause that's more convenient than blaming any of it on the guy who's still making decisions.

And Liles would have been a better choice than either, as the former only had one year left and the latter is a more useful asset and could have been kept in lieu of re-signing Bozak.

Sulzer cleared waivers. That's good, he'll make a solid call-up for Buffalo when the inevitable injuries kick in.
