not sure pinning the hopes of a 2nd line on a guy who has never played in the NHL is the answer though.

Is it florida waiting to see if they can sign weiss long term ... If not ? ... Trade happens ?

I saw a few people speculate it might be washington .. pointing to the comments gillis emphasized about luongo being a professional whose hard working demeanor would rub off on teammates and show them what it takes to be elite

And the wait comes from the uncertainty re backstroms health ... Not saying hes part of the deal but a centre prospect would be easier to part with if they knew nick was healthy


Or it could be gillis using the media to drum up a suddenly soft market

I don't know why Florida would be interested. They have 2 starting NHL goalies & a great prospect in the minors. Washington makes a lot of sense because they have two young goalies who haven't proven themselves at the NHL level.

I always thought Tampa would be one of the teams. I never thought there were truly out of it. I felt they were the better team out of the 3 (Tor and Fla the others) I wouldnt mind Malone actually (hes signed until 2014/15 season with a cap hit of $4.5) so I assume we dont take any Luongo contract back. it would fill our needs for sure and allow us to dump booth at seasons end and Im for Malone over Booth
