Sick burn at the end.
Roger Goodell is a damn idiot.
I'm offended by the Raiders as it means to raid, loot, steal.
I'm sure there are some liberals out there offended by the word Patriots.
God help us if PETA gets offended by the bears, dolphins, lions, falcons etc.
What about if a gay person gets offended by the word packers.
But we got to "listen to their concerns". Foot in mouth Goodell, foot in mouth.![]()
I don't see a problem with the name, but what if they had a new team called the Compton Black Skins, people might get mad.

I'm Native American & I nor anyone I have ever had a discussion with about Sports names, have ever been offended by them. In fact a lot of them think it is a cool thing. With all that said I loved the end of the article. I literally laughed out loud!

The people and culture were different when the name was made. It would never pass today. Somebody would bring up redskins were the scalps of Indians the white settlers would sell for money. That's pretty fucked up. That's akin to calling a team the Alabama Black Slaves. However, Marshall was a cheapo and there wasn't the plethora of data we have today. Naming a team the Redskins today with all the information we have would be racist. Back then, it was just ignorant. But, everybody was ignorant on this issue so there was zero malice in naming them the Redskins.
if you want to get right down to it going back in time. Using the word Indian would be the racist term. It would be like calling an Asian person an oriental. Most of us Indians don't care & thus the racism that was behind it way back whenever, lost its power.Has anybody noticed that most of the people claiming that it's offensive are white...some are black...very few are "indians?"
That's because people would rather spread a lie that is on Wikipedia such as the term being used for the scalps of "indians." That doesn't even make sense.
People fail to research and realize that the term was used by "indians" first in their dealing with the "white man."
I posted about this on another thread. Apparently some felt I was lying about my claim of Native American heritage. No big deal there so I will not bother on this thread. I will only say I am more insulted by the word 'Indian' than 'Redskin" any day of the week. My ancestors 'of an unknown tribeHas anybody noticed that most of the people claiming that it's offensive are white...some are black...very few are "indians?"

I think the Beverly Hills Crackers would be better. What if they had a team called the Beverly Hills Whities? They don't have either one that I'm aware of. I'm sure the Whities would be ok though.
