He sure threw some beautiful interceptions in big games.
Yeah, maybe its because I was young but I never really saw that much separation between him and the other AFC QBs like Moon, Kelly, to a certain extent Elway, Esiason, and when the Chiefs had Montana.

I remember thinking Steve Young was actually the best QB of the era

I don’t know. They made a solid case for 2001 Miami Hurricanes vs the 2001 Browns. The trenches definitely would be tough but they had so many 1st round picks from that team that I think it would’ve been a game
The 2001 Miami Hurricanes COULD NOT score an offensive touchdown against UNRANKED Boston College. FACT. They also needed five turnovers to squeak by #14 Virginia Tech by just TWO points. Most overrated team ever. College football encyclopedia/Billingsley has them at #29 all-time and even that's too high.

You think a pro team would not being able to score on an UNRANKED college team? Anyone that believes that the so-called "greatest" college football team ever COULD NOT score a offensive touchdown against an UNRANKED team, it's preposterous, ludicrious and ridiculous. Shows they fell for the hype and don't know football.

Try not to fall asleep watching the so-called "greatest" college football team ever:

Yawn, you’re going to use 1 game? And I didn’t say they would, but that is the best example. The NFL would totally disagree with your they are the most overrated team. Most of that teams backups had longer NFL careers than Browns players

I also listed they needed five turnovers to squeak by the #14th ranked team.

Ok, if we're going to use your logic, then the 1997 Michigan Wolverines were the greatest cfb team ever. Why? Because they had the GOAT of GOATs on their team and they were so good he couldn't even get on the field. Is that how this works?

No matter how beautiful the throws what good are they if they're intercepted often in big games?
Well...both his Super Bowl interceptions were out of desperation. He definitely got outplayed by Montana though.

This is a very enlightening article, thanks for posting it. I had no idea that Dan Marino threw at least 2 picks in every one of his playoff losses but one. That's simply impossible to ignore and explains a whole lot.

Hmmm. I think OSU would beat the Jaguars or the Titans. Those teams were horrible.
I’d still put my money on the Jags or the Titans… NFL is still the best of all the college players in college football.. And keep in mind college players overall are so young, 18-19 years old in some cases… NFL is grown men, even if an NFL team lacks chemistry and aren’t having a good season, they’re still more mature, more physical, more experienced…

You're welcome. It's a fact that's totally ignored by Marino fans. It's tough to win big games or games against good teams when your QB throws two interceptions.

In the regular season, he was good enough to beat the '85 Bears. However, in the post-season, he couldn't beat the '85 Patriots - at home - in Miami - and was badly outplayed by the great Tony Eason. Zero rings at every level. Stats don't lie. Check out his performances in all the Dolphins' post-season losses. No defense? He was drafted by a team that was just in the Super Bowl. Do you think David Woodley's passing got them there or was it the Killer B's defense?

No running game? Another myth. Plenty of examples of teams that won a Super Bowl with far less of a running game than Marino had in Miami. What was the excuse at Pitt? Bobby Bowden said that Pitt's 1980 team was the greatest college football team he ever saw. Maybe check how Marino played in big games in college.

He couldn't beat Jim Kelly and the Bills in the playoffs, believe he was 0-3 against them.. 8-15 lifetime.

Yeah but you can't spin 2 picks in nearly every playoff loss when we all know turnovers are prehaps the key stat of every football game ever played.
