The Season So Far-week –Week 12

1st 4: Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan

2nd 4: Georgia, LSU, Washington St, Oklahoma

3rd 4: Ohio St, UCF, Syracuse, West Virginia.

Analysis: Two top 12 clashes will establish the next to final ground for the playoffs. Oklahoma’s defense is costing them and without a win over West Virginia will not even be in the Big 12 CG. Michigan and Ohio State is big as always. Winner is in good position. Notre Dame has only 1 more game, against rival USC and will get into the playoffs with a win. Washington State continues to look good.

My Picks for the Playoff: Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Washington State

Analysis: This can only happen if Ohio State beats Michigan. Otherwise the final 4 is set. I can’t see the Big 12 getting in without upsets. Alabama and Clemson look impossible.

Most surprising: Notre Dame, Washington St, Kentucky, and Army.

Analysis: I have the first two in the playoffs. Very hard for Army to make the top 25 considering the service obligation. This is the best season for Kentucky in years.

Most disappointing: Louisville, North Carolina, and Arkansas.

Analysis: Louisville expected a drop off, but not this much. Arkansas a total disappointment in the tough SEC. North Carolina is also a surprise at how little they’ve been able to challenge anyone.

Heisman Trophy: Tua Tagovailoa, , Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins

Analysis: Top 2 are now close. Key games this week should help break the tie. Unless Dwayne Haskins has the game of his life, it will be difficult to capture the trophy.

Big 3 Games of the Week: Alabama-Auburn, Ohio St-Michigan, Oklahoma-West Virginia.

Analysis: These are the big ones. Playoff spots and conference championships hinge on all 3. Should Alabama lose then a 2nd SEC team could get in. Alabama to win big 41-10. Ohio State to pull out a thriller 20-17 and West Virginia to upset Oklahoma and win 34-31.

Big games left: The P-5 championship games which will make the final determination as to who gets in.

Analysis: Oklahoma’s only chance is a double win over West Virginia plus beauty points. If Ohio State beats Michigan, they must win the Big 10 title and with style points. Georgia has one loss and to lose a 2nd at the end of the season will kill off their chances. Don’t count out LSU if upsets occur.
