May be a lot to ask KC to repeat what they did last season, with a bunch of #2 and 3 starters....Especially with the division lining up tougher.......They may need another Cueto like move this season to get them back in the dance

What I'm hearing you say is:

they suck dick

Yup, but Im sure the Royals will continue to ruin baseball by raping some poor organization for their best players

My mets would never do that

A .500 record 20% into the season neither sucks or is good. They came out on fire which gave them cushion for their recent blues. Obviously they need to turn it around. Its not a hangover its simply hitting slumps and underperforming pitching. But since its almost all the same players as last year not playing like it, I guess it could be a hangover. But being 15-15 is not anything, its just an average start.

Still time to change your votes, dumbasses!

I think we're seeing a classic case of a team just not being hungry anymore after winning the title. After these guys came so close in '14, they really worked hard to get it last year. Hard not to feel like you're going to be in the WS again after two straight appearances, and with basically the same lineup as the Title team.

Remember what another great Missourian once said: it gets late early out here

The Royals had a pretty similarly terrible stretch in August in September of last year. Broken record for some, but it's still very early. Gordon and Cain are pretty quickly returning to their TTL's established in 2015 (or close) for instance. Ditto for Escobar and Hosmer may or may not being the next step power wise; Moustakas as well. Perez is not clearly better or worse than last year so far either. Dyson while very bleh, has actually been better than the Rios/Orlando combo of last year.

So, what's actually worse? Well, the obvious answer is sequencing up to this point has been terrible as pointed out in their wildly negative RISP - BA number. The rotation has definitely struggled, but I don't think it's very likely Ventura continually walks a batter an inning for each strikeout for instance. I don't think it's likely Chris Young has a 25% HR/FB, as that's not really in his background career wise. Volquez and Kennedy are mostly performing as expect peripheral wise, but Kennedy has had some sequencing luck go his way for a sparkling sub 2.5 ERA.

Chris Young and Medlen are troubling in that their issues are either mechanical or heavy variance minus the upside of a Ventura. I am not saying you trade for another Cueto (barf, would like to have Cody Reed or even Lamb about now) but a Leake type acquisition might have to be considered assuming the Royals are still in the playoff picture by July.
