The Redskins fear that Robert Griffin III suffered a dislocated left ankle in Sunday's Week 2 game against the Jaguars.
It would be a potentially season-ending injury. RG3, who suffered the injury on a non-contact play near the sideline in the first quarter, will have further tests to confirm. Kirk Cousins has come on and shined in relief as the Redskins are battering the Jags. Sep 14 - 2:55 PM

If true he is done for the season

It's been confirmed

The Redskins confirmed that Robert Griffin III suffered a dislocated left ankle in Sunday's Week 2 win over the Jaguars.
The Redskins declined to provide a timetable, but it's not good. If RG3 has to go under the knife, his season will be in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins came on in relief and shined by going 22-of-33 for 250 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Redskins won 41-10.

OK so if thats true, and the team is say 5-2 at that point, do you bench Cousins for Griffin??

If we are at 5-2 that would mean Cousins would have beaten Philly or Seattle. You would bench him after winning one of these games?

Agreed. Just trying to get a feeling for how the board thinks we handle this IF Griffin is back this season but we are winning with Kirk.

its dislocated . 4-5 weeks if no ligament damage

and if it was sprained (only ) his return would be predicated on KC's play imho

A dislocation usually also involves a fracture. That's a minimum of 6-8 weeks. Then he has got to get into game shape and work through his timing with his offense. The earliest I see him back is 8-10 weeks.

in that scenario we should IR him , give him time to rehab , and have him ready for next season

the last thing we need is to "rush ' him back . lets not repeat old mistakes

i agree there is no reason to rush him back ... more then able to use this time to study & finish developing into the pocket QB

however, i have had more experience with ankle injuries then anyone i know ... repeated basketball injuries kept me out of the nba :pound:

so i consider myself an expert in the area.

while i'm not a professional athlete like Robert whose required to run, jump & pivot ...

I am able to slowly & gingerly, get back to work the same day it is sprained/dislocated.

And i'm on my feet, doing physical work, 8+ hours a day.

If its not broken, just dislocated & no surgery required ...

then its more of a pulled muscle then a broken bone

and 6 weeks seems more then reasonable to me ...

stupid pot hole took me out 2 weeks ago

Cooley said on radio that some Redskin staff think 6 weeks. I guess worse case is a year. We'll find out tomorrow.

just to add to what i posted earlier ...

weather its just my experience from not getting it properly treated or if it is true for everybody ...i dont know ...

but in my experience every ankle injury makes you more susceptible to rolling another ankle.

which will just add to the story line of Griffin being injury prone if this becomes a reoccurring issue ...

so i support the trainers decision if they decide to slowly work him back in.
