We get ten and here are the few already signed...

  • Matt Conrath, DT
  • Sean Hooey, OT
  • Marcus Lucas, WR
  • Justin Veltung, WR
  • Brandon Washington, OL
Practice squad eligibility rules:

  • A player is eligible if he does not have an accrued season of NFL experience. Players gain an accrued season by being on the active roster for at least six games.
  • If a player has one accrued season, they can still be practice squad eligible if they were on the 45-man active gameday roster for less than nine regular season games.
  • A player is deemed to have served a season on the practice squad if he remains on the practice squad for at least three weeks. Players are eligible to be on the practice squad for two seasons.
  • Players can be eligible for a third practice squad season if their team maintains no less than 53 players on the active/inactive list at all times.
More info on practice squads is available here.

No LBs yet, even though Fisher made that a point of interest during the Sam discussions yesterday.

I know some of you are stunned to see Hooey signed as he was horrific vs the Browns playing LT and LG.

However he was solid playing with the twos at RT and RG.

Good enough to sign him back to the practice squad considering our depth issues on the Offensive Line.

You know some guys never 'get it' switching from right side to the left side, it's like throwing a ball 30 yards with accuracy left handed when you normally throw right...

It's a two way street shopson.

The LB's we are looking at could be hearing some advice from their agents to hold off as other teams could be showing interest in claiming them off waivers...

Also the Rams could be in the same situation....

Looking at LB's on waivers to sign to our Practice Squad.

There are still five spots open on our Practice Squad.

I gotta believe there will be an LB or two signed here with one of those five spots.

Marcus Lucas is on the Panthers PS. I saw an article that had him on the Rams but that's inaccurate.

Somebody likes Hooey. Methinks that might be Boudreau. I suspect we will see a QB on that list sooner rather than later.

Happy Gilbert didn't make it to practice squad. And as much as we would to draft a Qb next draft, the Rams have been one of the worst Qb drafting teams.

The list

2014 Garrett Gilbert
2010 Sam Bradford
2009 Keith Null
2005 Ryan Fitzpatrick
2004 Jeff Smoker
2002 Steve Bellisari
1999 Joe Germaine
1996 Tony Banks
1992 Ricky Jones (who?)
1992 TJ Rubley
1989 Jeff Carlson
1986 Hugh Millen
1985 Doug Flutie 1 pro bowl (never played a game for the Rams)
1984 Rick Johnson
1983 Clete Castper
1980 Kevin Scanlon
1979 Jeff Rutledge
1978 Mark Manges
1977 Vince Ferragamo
1976 Steve Hamilton
1975 Pat Haden 1 pro bowl
1975 Alvin White
1974 Norris Weese
1973 Ron Jaworski 1 pro bowl
1971 Charlie Richards
1970 Larry Arnold
1969 Tim Carr
1968 Gary Beban
1968 Jimmy Raye

That is one sad list, nobody with even two pro bowls appearances, let alone all pro season or hall of fame.

Okay, we have to be the worst Qb drafting team.

Rutledge, Ferragamo, and Jaworski I think should not be classified as worst. Ferragamo of course took us to our first Superbowl in the modern era against Pittsburgh and he still resides in LA today. Everyone else-Yep!

Unfortunately, this wasn't the best or worst list, this is all the qbs we drafted in the Super Bowl era. Pretty sad list. Either we can't develop qbs or we can't draft them. It is funny that for the most part we've have had a good running game to help the Qb, and quality WRs for them to throw to, yet!

Correct Snake Eyes. I was just editorializing what you posted. Your point is spot on and it is good stuff all around!

I know we drafted the Heisman QB as a WR but come on...

We can't forget or not add Eric Crouch to this list.. :L

That's a good idea Zeke......we could use a good QB coach to light a fire under these guys. Of course a "Farve" style would certainly conflict with the "drawing plays on the Neanderthal cave wall" system that Shottenheimer currently uses.

So, since Sam doesn't end up on the practice squad, does that circus officially shut down ???

Maybe for the Rams it does. But you know as soon as some team signs him, even to the practice squad, ESPN will be right there, fanning the flames to resurrect a story that has become near and dear to their hearts and agenda. Wonder where Opera has been through all of this, and if they're still interested in doing a story on Sam even if he doesn't make an NFL roster?

I agree with Mikey and Boss on this one. Nobody is calling and apparently the Rams are going to wait to add him to the PS because of the demand for other spots that the Rams are thin at like QB, LB, and O-line, especially center. The circus is officially over for the Rams unless they re-visit it by signing him to the PS. Methinks this story is done and Sam ain't playin' NFL or CFL football this year.

I don't know why they signed Blake. He was a complete waste of a WR spot. I am glad they signed Gilbert. I think he'll develop over time. He may even end up where Davis is now. It'll be interesting to see though how it all plays out.
