according to stats teams that are 4+ point out of a playoff spot do not make the playoffs. that sounds ludicrous to me that teams only 2 wins out could miss in april....

so right now

Philly and Buffalo are out in the East as everyone else is 3 pts or less out
Calgary, Winnipeg, Dallas and Edmonton are all out in the West.

I find that crazy to think that besides teams like Buffalo (sorry guys), Philly (you guys too) and Edmonton are already out for being only 4 out. I hadnt realized it was such a narrow margin

Calgary won't be a playoff team, but that's to be expected as the team is re-building. They probably won't be bad enough to be a lottery team either (but that approach doesn't seem to be working in Edmonton either).

Since they have something like 22 in the past 18 months, I'm going to say it's unlikely.

The only team I believe is out of the playoff picture is Buffalo. The main reason is they only have 5 points & have played 15 games. The Flyers on the other hand have only played 11.

Only three teams have made it in seven seasons out of thirty two, so it's not a death sentence; it's about 10%. Almost never makes it sound like coming back from three games to none in the playoffs.

Plus, I'd argue that the Metropolitan is so bad that the Flyers could go 3-17 and still make it back into the playoffs (DO NOT TEST THIS THEORY, ASSHOLES).
